Brewer. Red River Métis. He / him. Currently battling one of life’s least dangerous cancers, chronic lymphocytic leukaemia.
Woot! Have fun!

Wait, he got tips from Nancy?

If he takes himself down while trying to get Clinton hahahaha my goodness that would be an OKish outcome.

‘Zounds. Untappd has also bought Ekos and a “budget” brewery management platform. They’re expanding in ways I don’t really get.

What a terrible day to have eyes.

My wife, who professes to hate sf, is excited for s2. In large part because, when Goggins gets his swagger on, he’s riveting.

Prairie kid in me still needs a Pil every time I hang with my family in Regina. Otherwise, I have the means of production.

We’re just being coy.

These folks were literally talking about growing up pitchable quantities of yeast from cans that contain the engineered yeast. On a public forum.
November 10, 2025 at 6:54 PM
Realistically, no. The amount of cells we pitch per batch is best expressed in scientific notation. A 400l batch needs something like 4 trillion cells. Within a brewery, there will be some cross contamination, but cultures will still be 99.99% pure.

And baby brewers aren’t old enough to remember those cases from 20 years ago. PCR tests are fast and cheap — I don’t think these folks get how easy it is for Omega to find breweries to threaten.
November 10, 2025 at 6:07 PM
And in this case it’s easy to use non-engineered yeasts and make Omega a fucking pariah. Jebus. Anyways, here’s a bird pic.
November 10, 2025 at 5:53 PM
… not to use Omega’s yeasts again. Repeat until there’s enough of a war chest to target regional breweries and boom. Money and a chilling effect. The new VC owners possibly don’t even care about selling yeast to breweries. They may just want an IP windfall.
November 10, 2025 at 5:53 PM
And folks saying holy fuck no don’t open up your brewery to civil litigation are getting downvoted. Oh gawd people are dumb about IP law. The troll playbook is fucking straightforward. Target a small brewery using the yeast o, unleash the lawyers, accept a small fee and extract a promise …

I do both. I also go both ways on the Oxford comma because I’m an ungovernable gremlin.

Remarkably few! But a few years after visiting the Catacombs, eldest daughter became a forensic anthropologist and taught bone lab at the U of A.
