💔 Alice Wong’s last words: “Don’t let the bastards grind you down.”

We can never thank Alice enough for fighting all the good fights and especially all the hard fights. We all learned so much from your brilliance, your courage, and your indefatigable leadership. We will never forget you.

What passing-bells for these who die as cattle?
— Only the monstrous anger of the guns.
Only the stuttering rifles' rapid rattle
Can patter out their hasty orisons.

Cars might work fine in California or Florida, but they’re not practical here in Canada. We have winter.

Road safety is NOT a shared responsibility. Responsibility scales with the danger you bring. The only way we're going to stop killing people is if we get serious about changing road design in ways that make it uncomfortable to speed. Asking people to "please do better" is a cop out. #yyccc #yyc

One of my clients recently demanded that the following clause be included in his contract or he would not sign ... and I said, yes, good, everyone should demand no less.

💯Every version of my book has been stolen by AI: English paperback, audiobook, e-book AND the French translation.

And as a consent educator, I see that kind of theft for what it is : A violation of consent. I did not consent to my memoir of the worst moments of my life, being used to train robots.
There’s also the aspect of those who work in the arts, for the most part, have an already difficult time getting by. Losing copyright law to approving an AI free-for-all is theft and will be devastating. 1 of 3

So, uh ... funny story from this afternoon's ride about a car on the MUP ... specifically a Ville de Gatineau car on a NCC MUP section; was nearly a whole let less funny since I was coming around a blind corner.

Masking in public isn't just about protecting yourself, but about protecting high-risk people around you too. If we want to build a collectivist society rather than this hyper-individualistic "you do you" nonsense we see in the West, we have to be the change we want to see

Security of tenure is the backbone of all other tenant protections. Rent control, eviction rules, habitability requirements - all are rendered almost meaningless without it, because all a landlord would have to do is wait for the current lease term to end and refuse to renew.
In particular, they want leases to no longer necessarily remain in effect indefinitely, so that landlords have more options for creating tenant turnover.

How fast was the child moving that colliding with a (stationary?) truck was fatal???
I'm devastated to hear the tragic news of a child who died in a collision with a truck yesterday in Overbrook. Ginny and I are thinking of the child's family and schoolmates.
