Why should any of us trust any political party to regulate the Internet when they refuse to stop using a platform that generates child sex images?

All their sanctimonious talk about “polarization,” “misinformation,” “online harms,” “protecting children,” etc. rings hollow when they continue using X
Even if the obvious reasons to abandon Xitter aren't enough, you'd think at least one party would make a pretty basic political calculus around putting themselves into a position to attack other parties for "contributing to an anti-democratic billionaire's platform awash in racists & pedophiles".

It's well past time for Canadian government officials to get off of X, @jameswsthomson.com writes. This latest — disgusting — incident is just one more reason.
Canadian government officials, what are you still doing on X in 2026?
The platform's own chatbot started posting sexualized material of children and other people who couldn't consent. With no moral bottom in sight, it's well past time our officials found other ways to c...

These are some of the most respected humanitarian organizations in the world. What an absolute farce.
Israel’s government says it will suspend the licenses of dozens of humanitarian groups operating in Gaza beginning Thursday, which relief workers say will lead to deeper suffering and difficulty receiving medicine. https://wapo.st/4qxbFWC

Among the groups is Doctors Without Borders, one of the largest international nongovernmental health care providers there.

De-amalgamation doesn't mean going back to exactly the way things used to be. For instance, we could easily allow the rural areas to join their neighbouring counties, for starters. They'd be happier without us anyway.
Amalgamation — of Toronto, of Ottawa — is the original sin that has done more damage to these cities than any other policy. It’s an ongoing disaster that never should have happened. The decline of each city is directly attributable to it.

My longstanding view is that some people like getting sick because it (a) is more interesting than their usual life, and (b) they hate their jobs.
It’s wild we’re still talking about masks. I still mask up in grocery stores, elevators, public bathrooms, and public transit cuz I don’t like being sick and I don’t want to get my kid sick and it doesn’t have to be more complicated than not liking being sick. It’s weird anyone would question that.
