🧪 Is this business suite home to a prolific science publishing house?

A prelim. investigation into "Darcy & Roy Press" -- seems to be predatory and has 1000s of publications since 2022. Many students have published in its journals. Worrying!

I can tell you for a fact that Elon also has no idea about brain computer interfaces, though I know very little about BCIs, I know plenty of people that know a bit about BCIs.
every single person writing credulously about "elon will put people on the moon" should have to pin this post to their monitor

The footage out of Sydney overnight is abhorrent.

Peaceful protesters set upon by an army of police, punches thrown at people with raised hands, people praying ripped from their knees.

Is this violence the social cohesion that Labor wanted?

Are the games industry jobs in the room with us now Mark
At SAGE this morning, Big Ant Studios COO Mark Bracken suggests you can go and get a games degree and walk into a video game job.

"Now is the easiest time to get into the industry" he says.

Writing under a pen name is no match for The Internet, which will find your government name, all other pen names you've used, probably your social security number and high school boyfriend with the extremely complicated tool known as Google Search.

🧪 An Aussie mainstream journo reporting nationally on a study relating to "reversing" ageing -- DNA methylation etc --claims you can DM them for the full paper.

...I DM them and get told that they can't send the full paper, and it's the authors' IP. What's in the paper??? What's in the paaaaper...

🧪 Will absolutely be grabbing this and keen to see how some of the master journalists think about story. Would be great to see a less US-centric selection of writers, given science journalism is a global endeavour with different challenges, ideals and systems.
Coming June 2026, The Open Notebook will publish a brand new book, edited by @siricarpenter.bsky.social, and today we are absolutely THRILLED to share the cover!

Look!! 👀

Got around to playing Clair Obscur. Good game. The heaping of praise it got for certain aspects is incredibly surprising tho. Voice acting is good, yep, but the dialogue is Truly Incredible -- if you're a LiveJournal emo posting from 2006-10 (derogatory).

🧪 Did we solve this scientific fish-stery? Perhaps -- with plenty of help from Bluesky, researchers and others behind the scenes, it seems a fairly benign explanation.

But the rabbit hole (fish... hole?) goes deeper, I think...

🧪 The "high-profile study" in question here is one *the Guardian reported on* just under a year ago with a "shocking" headline. That story includes sections of the study copy-pasted and additional quotes from the UK science media centre that lacked their full context about why the study was flawed.
‘A bombshell’: doubt cast on discoveries of #microplastics throughout human body, from brain to blood, arteries to testes

Exclusive: Some scientists say many detections are most likely error, with one high-profile study called a ‘joke’

🧪 Here's a science mystery to start the year.

Why are species names for fish and plants appearing in the scientific literature in papers about firefighter injuries, hearing loss and heart attack?

Is it AI? Translation tools? Something else?

There were credible allegations against the multiple Game Award winning Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 ... And Sandfall said nothing. Ignored requests for comment. Quietly patched. This will be the strategy. Hide it or ignore it until people no longer care. News moves onto the next case.
Hell, there's been credible allegations of its use uncovered at AAA developers in the last couple of weeks and the companies have just not commented. The tech introduces enough uncertainty that it becomes hard to talk about instences as absolute fact which is in a developer's favor - fog of war etc.
