"AI can never generate a news story because it can’t think to contact someone to find something out, operate on a hunch, or use deduction based on past experience to then employ the art of bluff" — AFR political editor Phil Coorey.

There were credible allegations against the multiple Game Award winning Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 ... And Sandfall said nothing. Ignored requests for comment. Quietly patched. This will be the strategy. Hide it or ignore it until people no longer care. News moves onto the next case.
Hell, there's been credible allegations of its use uncovered at AAA developers in the last couple of weeks and the companies have just not commented. The tech introduces enough uncertainty that it becomes hard to talk about instences as absolute fact which is in a developer's favor - fog of war etc.

I’ve published a new piece in IPS Journal (in English and German) on Australia's social media age-ban, a policy that disconnects millions of young people from key online spaces while giving us no real way to measure what it achieves.

A poor answer to a complex problem
Australia’s social media ban won’t protect teens, but it shows who holds power. Europe should make sure to choose a different path

Interesting discussion in the Conversation about a research integrity body for Australia -- more for than against, featuring comments from @jabyrnesci.bsky.social, and clearly a need to do more to tackle this problem🧪

Should Australia establish an independent body to investigate scientific misconduct? We asked 5 experts
Scientific misconduct can waste public funds and harm human health. But views differ about the best way to tackle it.

Huge shouts to @cameronwilson.bsky.social who has diligently and thoughtfully covered the social media ban in ways few others have. Critical, evidence-based, fair. Great stuff.

China's bid for the 2029 World Conference of Science Journalists says their conference will include "AI-driven games" with the creators of Black Myth. Very weird to see this collision of my journalism beats here! #WCSJ25 🧪

I'm extremely proud to present Australia's bid for the World Conference of Science Journalists for 2029 here in Pretoria, and for my home town of ADL, no less. The team behind this bid have been unreal. If you're at #WCSJ, presentations begin at 11am in the Emerald Room. 🧪
