Very cool, can't wait to watch the Loons take on Real Salt Lake in a regular season game in 10 degree weather in February.
Don Garber deflects a question about what kind of pushback they got from northern markets on this move. He admits that northern markets will suffer from this, but suggests that this is balanced by southern markets having suffered for years in the summer heat.

So this is the "What time does the Super Bowl start?" of international politics articles
bizarrely this article does not simply directly answer the question raised in the headline (spooling it over several subsections that start many paragraphs in) but the answer is: Colombia, the UK, and the Netherlands

If all the U.S. states that touched a Great Lake were to secede from the Union and form a new (better) country along with Ontario and, let’s just say for the hell of it, Manitoba because why not, its safe to say that “The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald“ would be the national anthem, no?
Hundreds honored the 29 men who perished aboard the Edmund Fitzgerald in a ceremony along the North Shore marking the tragedy’s 50th anniversary.

The historic beacon at Split Rock Lighthouse, which the famous ship passed on its final trip, was lit for the occasion.

Jesus Christ, what you guys really need to do stop lecturing the voters about this and instead lecture the eight people who fucked up.
The sooner we get past internal recriminations and back to fighting united, the better off we all are — the likelier our victory next November.

Skill issue
“The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald” is a moving memorial to those who died but it continues to be a wildly unsuccessful strip club song.

If you think about how much Trump was helped by sending out physical stimulus checks it really highlights how much he wants SNAP recipients to suffer. He could go on TV and lie "Despite the Democrat shutdown I am personally releasing SNAP funds" and get full credit. But he won't.

OK I like the sentiment behind this but seriously who do I have to bribe to put this logo in the normal colors on a green sweater and make it one of Bemidji State's permanent alternates? It's like they're taunting me with this one.
🎀🎀 It's Pink the Rink weekend at Sanford Center!

Bemidji State will be wearing special Pink jerseys this weekend to promote breast cancer awareness!

These game-worn jerseys will be auctioned off online at 5pm CT tonight and ends tomorrow at 10pm CT!

"Judge rules Trump administration prohibited the free exercise of religion" is a blockbuster, click-generating (and 100% true!) headline that I wonder if we'll see anywhere in the coming day
Ellis rules that the Trump administration impermissibly prevented the free exercise of religion, in violation of the First Amendment.
Those engaged in prayer have been shot, without warning, with pepper balls and tear gas, Ellis says.

3 things:
1) Milquetoast? I mean, you called the main character of a beloved sitcom "a neolib shill," I think you knew what you were doing there
2) Leslie is exhausting & kinda annoying, but intentionally IMO
3) The show is a fantasy but the small-town government bureaucracy stuff is very realistic
My milquetoast post about a TV show has got people sephiroth posting in the quote tweets

Finally we're getting some millennial representation in major government, it's good to have people younger than me running major cities but it's it's very funny to me that the new mayor of NYC definitely has Opinions about whether "Shut Up Dude" or "Sit Down Man" is the best Das Racist mixtape.

Who could have possibly predicted this
New: The FBI is quietly urging ICE agents to properly ID themselves in the field.

In a bulletin to law enforcement last month, it warned of criminals posing as ICE to rob, rape, kidnap—a problem it says now demands national coordination to confront.

In a bulletin to law enforcement agencies, the FBI said criminal impersonators are exploiting ICE’s image and urged nationwide coordination to distinguish real operations from fakes.

this is the "magic loogie theory' episode of Seinfeld but in real life
The defense team presses Lairmore on whether the sandwich really 'exploded.' They return to the photo of the sandwich and wrapper on the ground.

"That sandwich hasn't exploded at all, has it?" defense asks.

"It looks like a little bit is coming out towards the bottom," Lairmore replies.

🚨🚨🚨The eight Sen Dems. according to @prospect.org who are looking to surrender to Trump:

- Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH)
- Jon Ossoff (D-GA)
- Gary Peters (D-MI)
- Mark Kelly (D-AZ)
- Maggie Hassan (D-NH)
- Peter Welch (D-VT)
- Tammy Baldwin (D-WI)
- Elissa Slotkin (D-MI).

May want to call their offices.
