man not tom noonan...
Oh, man. Tom Noonan died? His performance as Francis Dolarhyde in Manhunter is one of the most terrifying, mesmerizing I've ever seen in a film.

Sirk has better works, but few movies by anyone strut around the frame like this one, throwing the biggest shapes possible at every opportunity. Born for the big screen.
The world might be unfair but tonight I'm seeing Douglas Sirk's Written on the Wind all big and beautiful on a 35mm print and that's nice.

Very of the age that the big documentary news on the day Fred Wiseman passed was a Netflix show about America's Next Top Model that's analysis-free and merely broaches the potential topic again and again over a mammoth three hour runtime.

Defeated the Capra Demon in Dark Souls. Not a hard fight... if you can get into the arena. It took me about seven attempts just to do that. Then found my way into the depths and, I do not like this place. I fear learning where Elden Ring's Subterranean Shunning Grounds came from.

Went back to the gym for the first time since recovering from a cold. No apparent loss in progress, which is cool, although I did have a coughing fit after turning off the treadmill, so everyone probably thought I was an asshole anyway. Now 1 1/2 paczkis deep, undoing all gains.

Never seen one of these with an objectively correct answer before (6).

Robert Duvall and Fred Wiseman leaving the same day is a blow. They lived long, full lives, but that is two enormous cinema legacies to lose in a single day.

Unpacked the shopping earlier and Banville took the opportunity to climb into one of the bags and sing his song of loneliness.

Honestly, probably learning the process for Sekiro. A game I struggled with, stuck with, and struggled with even more. And then it clicked, and it's exhilarating. Honestly it and Bloodborne are in a league of their own. We'll see if Dark Souls changes me too.
with the understanding that it’s all a bit silly and that’s okay, what’s your proudest video game accomplishment?

for me, I think it’s doing everything in Bloodborne. It’s the only game I ever intentionally got all the trophies in; I just wanted to get every last bit out of it.

Dropped into the eye doctor to pick up some contacts and they're playing Soundgarden's 4th of July in there. Big fucking mood but, uh, unexpected.

Just walked through a big anti-ICE highschool protest. Festive atmosphere, students walking back and forth at crosswalks holding signs and shouting "Fuck ICE." Passing cars vigorously honking their approval. Warms my heart, truly.
