Black and trans, policy and movement professional. Love my family, love my community, and love good research.
It feels very trivial, given the lightness of my prescription. But I'm still annoyed at ICE for damaging my glasses. I really liked them, and I won't time to get them fixed or replaced for at least a few more days. #AbolishICE #Spokane

Sharing my truth. I'm not at the #NoKings protest today b/c I need to protect my mental health. But I support them, and I'm proud of Spokane for showing up by the thousands.

Just listened to "Auntie Diaries" by Kendrick Lamar and on this particular day, at this particular moment in history it damn near makes me want to cry.

Stephen Miller on Gov. J.B. Pritzker calling for mass protests:

“His comments…could be construed as inciting violence…This war that Democrat governors and mayors are waging against federal law enforcement. I mean, this is nullificationist behavior. This is secessionist behavior.”

“Downloading and archiving data in private or non-governmental repositories is a double-edged sword. It allows archivists to make multiple copies… But saving such data on platforms owned by US-based companies could be risky if those companies are later compelled by the government to delete the data”
Inside the desperate rush to save decades of US scientific data from deletion
Swathes of scientific data deletions are sweeping across US government websites – with decades of research at risk. Now, scientists are racing to save their work before it's lost.

Word nerds! Help me remember the word for the following:
The structured, specific, easily severed, but often precious relationships we build w/ service workers, etc. thru casual, frequent interaction.

(E.g. mailman, favorite coffee-shop barista, bank teller, grocery store clerk, etc.)

I've long been skeptical of public service forgiveness, which is precisely why I've never included government forgiveness in my financial planning.

That said, I still took on 6-figure debt (after scholarships). Hoping beyond hope the risks I've chosen pay off, or at least don't cripple me.
The way the PSLF program works is that you make minimal payments for 10 years of public service work, and then the government forgives your balance at the end. The payments usually aren't enough to cover the interest payments on your debt, so your debt grows over the course of those 10 years. 1/

Snap...I better check on this.
If you owe student loan debt, you need to take a photo of your current balance. The government outsources your loan servicer if you have federal loans. The elimination of the DOE means NO federal oversight into how much you owe.

PSLF gone. Repayment plans? Gone. It can also likely hit your CREDIT

I didn't watch the Superbowl, but I did watch the halftime show. I was pretty excited as someone who's been playing GNX on repeat for weeks now.

It was a solid performance, with unexpected verses and a compelling conceit.

Has anyone done a welfare check on Drake lately?

Rest in Peace, President Carter. You never got the recognition you deserved as a President, but you are certainly remembered as a good man. Thank you for your service.

One thing I've learned from law school (and teaching, and community organizing, and management) is that good policy NEVER relies upon the ignorance of bad actors. #harassment

Well...over a year after I originally joined I can say I genuinely don't miss Twitter. I've been much more active on Threads, but I also just do less social media now. I think the reduction has been good.

That said, gonna give this space another go. Hello again!

I've deleted Twitter on my phone, but I'm embarrassed to admit I haven't deleted my account yet. As I've dipped my toe in alternatives, none have provided what I originally came to Twitter for: A self-cultivated feed of credible, diverse & interesting voices on my favored interest areas. (1/x)

Tell me this is darkly funny satire. I can't always tell w/ the internet, but the combo of Black Panther & "We Shall Overcome" to propagandize against UNIONS of all things (tell me you don't know MLK w/o telling me you don't know MLK) is too over the top to be genuine. And if genuine ... *wretches*
