Once upon a time, Word wanted me to correct "the glowing ember of the sun" to "the glowing member of the sun".

It still makes me giggle.
As an aside, the reason I love the John Wick movies is because they're basically world-built like an urban fantasy. I'd argue they're the best urban fantasy I've seen in film.

John Wick is clearly some sort of changeling from faerie. Unseelie.

Science is finding the truth.

When science changes its opinion, it didn't lie to you. It learned more.

This is a gorgeous thread, particularly if you are of the confidence-game inclined.
I just did the dumbest thing of my entire career to prove a much more serious point.

I tricked ChatGPT and Google, and made them tell other users I’m a competitive hot-dog-eating world champion

People are using this trick on a massive scale to make AI tell you lies. I’ll explain how I did it

Is Nazgûl free to leave?
Hey @kenwhite.bsky.social , a local Czechoslovakian wolfdog named Nazgul wandered onto the cross-country skiing course during the Women's Team Sprint Free qualification event. Does he need legal counsel? Or is he just a good boy?

I regularly see people wondering how it's possible that there are so many musicians and writers and film makers and artists from a tiny nation like Iceland.

And the answer is really simple: State funding for art education and artists. I literally get a salary from the government to write books.
I’m constantly astounded at the sheer level of artistic production coming out of Iceland. Novels, movies, music. Amazing.

I've lost some of the vibe I was going for when I've been writing this novel...but I think that'll be what revising is for--to add the cool descriptions back in, to polish the vibe so you get a sense of being in a neat alternate world.

I found a library near me that has some of the SFF pulps from the 1970s bound together in a hardcover.

George R. R. Martin was in one, Joan D. Vinge in another.

I'm gonna have to go through them and see who else I recognize, and read the ones I don't.

The old ads in them are wild, I might share.

The women's shelter where I volunteer lost almost all of their art and craft supplies last year. I can't fix everything, but I have a big network here, and so do a lot of you, and I'm pretty sure that together, we can fix this.
