Russian Propaganda Narratives in The New York Times - Why?

On July 12, The New York Times published a report from Russia’s Kursk region titled:
“A Landscape of Death: What’s Left Where Ukraine Invaded Russia.”

This article plays directly into Moscow’s hands.

She's the second ship of a ship class where Yantar is a member of. Her deployment would mirror her sister in that she would be supporting activities of the Main Directorate for Deep Sea Research (GUGI).

Well, the US was not really thinking of sending more anti air weapons to Ukraine, it was planning on stopping what little was on its way. The US is cutting Ukraine off during this vital moment. Once again, flattering Trump is not the right strategy. A free piece. open.substack.com/pub/phillips...

Ukraine is not being prepared as it should in air defense, and instead of sucking up to Trump, the Europeans should be far more proactive. They even have cards to play, if they had self respect. How about saying Europe will only buy US weapons if the US sells Ukraine Patriots?

Cluster munitions are designed to maximise damage of a single strike by releasing several submunitions over a larger area—in effect distributing explosive force to multiple impact zones, indiscriminately targeting beyond the range of one concentrated blast. Russia is launching them at kindergartens.
NEW: Russian forces conducted the third largest combined drone and missile strike against Ukraine since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion on the night of June 16 to 17. More ⬇️(1/3)

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that current communication between the US and Russia resembles a “warm conversation"

Such a tone only reinforces the Russian ruler’s confidence, as Vladimir Putin does not want peace, he added euromaidanpress.com/2025/06/14/r...
Russia’s warm conversations with US are ploy to dodge sanctions, not end the war, says Zelenskyy
America must show strength, the Ukrainian leader urges, warning that any pause in pressure only encourages further Russian aggression.

Last night, on 5 June, Russia launched 407 Shahed and decoy drones into Ukrainian airspace. Around 17,500 Shahed drones and decoys were launched by Russia between January and June 2025. This accounts for a staggering 50% of the total drones launched since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

Another conceivable scenario is Russia agreeing to the ceasefire but not respecting it, as seems to be the Russian custom with agreements.

Then an interesting question will be whether the truth about who violated the ceasefire first matters to the US
Another moment of truth. If Russia does not accept, which is not unlikely as they have not achieved what the want, it could lead to a twist that has been part of the Ukrainian Trump calculus from the start: Putin doesn't deliver, Trump gets angry. Will he then back Ukraine? An open question.
Breaking news: Ukraine is ready to accept a US proposal for an immediate 30-day ceasefire in its war with Russia as long as Moscow does the same, Kyiv and Washington said on Tuesday. www.ft.com/content/3e00...

Of course it was… Ukrainian cyber guys are clever enough to hack Musk’s infamous X server, but not cloak their IP.

And so the disinformation campaign discrediting Ukraine as a means to justify future Starlink blackouts and generate further battlefield effects in the Kremlin’s favour intensifies.
"X was hit by a massive cyberattack today, with IP addresses linked to the Ukraine area," Musk said in response to today's mass attacks on X. The platform was unavailable to lots of users during the day.

Great article and must-read thread from my @centreeuropeanref.bsky.social colleague @sandertordoir.bsky.social . As Trump’s US undermines European security & strengthens Putin’s Russia, Europe needs to realise its industrial strength & use it effectively.
I wrote a new piece for foreign policy.

The US's postwar role as guarantor of Europe’s security is over – and may even turn adversarial. But Europe has an overlooked trump card.

When it comes to manufacturing Europe blows the US out of the water.

Musk and Rubio take on the Polish MFA, yet only succeed in accidentally admitting that Poland and other neighbouring nations are—in all likelihood—indeed next on the Kremlin’s imperialist war roster if Ukraine falls.
