Labour MP says only way to unite UK over immigration is by leaning into Reform narrative.
November 20, 2025 at 12:58 PM
Wtf is wrong with this government? They've pilled themselves to think the only way to fight Reform is to be the cruellest government possible
Home Office media release on new settlement rules.

5 years to settlement for family members of British citizens; BNO Hong Kong visas + public sector workers

Keir Starmer's government proposes 15 year, 20 year + even 30 year settlement routes: deliberately off the charts of any precedent anywhere

Want to save the NHS? Build protected cycle lanes!
IMPORTANT: The Dutch invest €595 million annually on urban biking, resulting in €19 BILLION saved in public health care costs alone. That’s how smart governments do the math on investing in better mobility.

Let’s be clear— it wastes public money to NOT do it.

Excellent thread showing the dangers of believing everything generative AI shows you
When we posted this a couple of weeks ago, we had some AI enthusiasts insist that this diagram was the result of poor prompting, or that the prompt that the original poster made was to generate a funny, bad diagram. So we decided to test ChatGPT's capability...
Today in AI Is Not A Good Source For Learning About The World's Most Misunderstood Body Part, meet this ChatGPT gem.

Funnily enough, we're actually going to talk about how most of this is kinda sorta right (for small values of right), as a cautionary tale about generative AI.

🚨1000 authoritarian actions. 7 months🚨

I've been tracking Trump's authoritarian actions. From dismantling democratic institutions to militarising immigration enforcement, Trump is reshaping America.

In my new post I highlight key authoriarian attacks

Exactly seven months into Trump's second term, we have reached 1000 authoritarian actions. Here I lay out the enormity of what has happened.

Right, so I was asked to take a look at this headline and as you can imagine, there is a lot wrong with it! 🙄

This was initially published in

and then picked up by the usual GB News, DM, Telegraph etc

Let’s take a look….👀

There'll be more on this, but just a quick post to say how proud we are that both fans came together and refused to be intimidated by the venue's threats.

A credit to both football clubs
Today's L&SERWFL Trophy final vs Dulwich Hamlet Res has been abandoned.

The presence of Palestine flags among both sets of supporters was deemed unacceptable by the venue and the game was duly called off.

Clapton CFC were 2-0 up at the time through goals from Emily Link and Egle Trezzi.

“those of us who can avoid travel to the US must continue the science others cannot and speak up where others are silenced”
Colleagues are cancelling their US work trips. I worry that international colleagues in the US are at risk if they collaborate with us on certain topics.

I've written a new post about the increasing danger of being a foreign scientist in the US.

Trump's attacks on universities get ever darker, with the shadows reaching our shores
The US has become a hostile and authoritarian state to foreign scientists and is choosing ideology over science.

Very good analysis on lessons learned from lockdown
bsky.app/profile/chri...
Read if you think 1) "lockdown impacts show govt was wrong to do so" (first time), or 2) "for next time we just need to *not* lock down, or anything else to stop disease spread"
It's 5 yrs today since lockdown started in England, but "We must never have lockdown again" is the wrong lesson.

Lockdowns are terrible but so are deadly pandemics.

Our choices 5 years ago were limited - we can & must do better in the future.

Do read my post.

We are learning the wrong lessons from lockdown
And unless we learn the right ones, we risk making the same mistakes in a new pandemic

This government would do well to lead change in driving convictions. This "I drive for work so can't lose my licence" lark needs to stop. If you need to drive for work drive legally so you don't endanger your ability to work.
A driver who flipped his car, left the scene then lied about it being stolen to Police has avoided jail or any driving ban.

Why?

Because “he’s now driving for Amazon” and “has expensive car repayments to make”.

Now we have to share the road with him.
