An excellent, as always, article from the excellent Zack Polanski.

Even when Scotland is praised on the world stage the SNP gets no credit

Financial agencies applaud Scotland’s economy, but all we get is sneering. Govts need held to account but credit where credit is due

It shows how meaningless the quality of our debate has become

In Scotland, any news – even good news – is subjected to partisan point-scoring. It means we repeatedly fail to have the debates we really need,…

It’s time to end the ideological block on nuclear power,,

Poverty is a political choice

Hell, Neil is right again. Plato was right about democracy. You can't have it without education, otherwise you just have stupid mobs vulnerable to loud mouthed dictatorship. I watched some footage of debate between Tony Ben and Ted Heath. The quality of argument would be unthinkable today.
Very adroit summary of where we're at.
We are splintered as a civilisation, so atomised that nothing unites us. Debate is reduced to the playground. Narcissism trumps duty. We live more online than in the real-world. Splintered, childish, narcissistic, digital. These are the defining characteristics of this dreadful era we have forged

Totally agree. Trans people have vanished from the BBC for a long time. That is, of course, the wish of anti-trans campaigners. According to a recent survey, about a third of trans folk plan to leave the UK and seek safety. Many already have. It's a disgrace.
Sorry, am I genuinely being asked to believe that the BBC is biased in favour of trans people?

I cannot remember the last time a trans person was given a voice on the BBC. It's as if they don't exist. They are talked about on the BBC, not talked to.

This entire debate is just fucking stupid.
