Now make a loud bold statement demanding ICE leave Minnesota immediately!

Northfield is a town of 20,000 people in southeast #Minnesota, outside of the metro region. That 20,000 people includes two college populations. Agents in plain clothes raided a local bakery this morning, and masked agents continue to raid local apartment complexes. That's where we're at.

If your Representative or Senators start going "whew! I guess it's ok to give DHS funding now" be ready to get on their cases
Today’s retreat is absolutely an attempt to take pressure off of Congress to rein in ICE so that a funding package can get through.

That pressure has been effective. We can celebrate Minneapolis’ win but we need to keep the pressure on. They’re not going to stop forever.

It's the PTO moms and spreadsheet dads and other random-ass Minnesotans concerned for their neighbors. There is no one central organizing org, just a ton of people who give a shit. It's both beautiful that it's happening and laughable that anyone thinks there's some broader apparatus at work.
James O'Keefe says he's never seen anything so organized as the anti-ICE movement, observers--he seems to think this term is code--everywhere he goes. Who is paying for it??? he demands to know. It's like he can't even imagine people caring for one another.

Dems should introduce legislation now defunding ICE and CBP operations in Minnesota, so they have to leave the state. One sentence bill. Demand an immediate vote. Maybe refuse to vote for cloture on any funding bills (or other bills) until a vote. Make the GOP Congress break w/ Trump or own it all.

A lot of the media has messed up in describing all of these folks who are observing as protesters, they’re neighbors who quickly come out of their homes to document ICE presence knowing that their privilege is the only thing possibly standing in the way of a neighbor being disappeared or brutalized.

There has been an increasing sense in Minneapolis that we are on our own, that our elected representatives are unwilling and/or unable to take action to get these murderous Nazi thugs out of our community. I really hope that changes today. The time for pleading TV hits ended weeks ago.

Only speaking personally, but today’s execution isn’t scaring me from protecting our neighbors, as some suggest is ICE’s goal. Nor am I angry with incandescent rage, in that I know such rage is unhelpful. Rather, I feel like it has forced me to truly accept that the same fate might befall me.

I finally get fed up enough to take the time to write a message to the GOP congress members in MN, but then because I don’t live in their district I can’t email them. How messed up is that?! As a tax payer I should be able to email anyone repressing the state.

At this point the only reason I still get the @startribune.com seems to be the Sudoku. They hardly cover the Loons, they are dropping the Home of the Month partnership with AIA (to be fair this is a selfish one), and they moved printing to Iowa so the carbon footprint of my daily paper went up.
As #MNUFC reports for preseason on Saturday, just a note: I'm told the Star Tribune isn't planning much in the way of Loons coverage this spring.

Never say never, of course, but I had hoped that my work over the last two years would lead to more coverage, and that doesn't seem to be the case.
