Hi and thanks, new followers! I can't keep up at the moment, so not following you back is just me being slightly overwhelmed. Welcome to posts about Black and gender history, the history of white supremacy, these histories' political implications, light sarcasm, elephant GIFs, and love of pastries.
On a random note: hotel prices = madness, absolute madness right now. Ever since the pandemic, really.

Of course they are.
“The dual class action suits allege that the functions—which followed thousands of sexual harassment and assault lawsuits against Uber and Lyft over the years— have limited the economic opportunities for men and discriminated against them because of their gender.”

BREAKING: After months of stonewalling by Starbucks, unionized baristas just voted 92% to authorize a ULP strike unless Starbucks finalizes fair contracts & stops union busting.

If forced, our baristas will strike in dozens of cities on November 13 – the company's busiest sales day of the year.
Starbucks unionized workers say they'll strike on Nov. 13 if coffee giant doesn't finalize contract
Union members say they are ready to strike on the chain's Red Cup Day if Starbucks doesn't finalize a contract with their union by then.

I was laid off from Teen Vogue this week, alongside multiple other phenomenal team members.

At our Summit, I was asked how it felt to be 1 of 2 Black women left and what that meant for representation. Now, there are no Black women at Teen Vogue and that is incredibly painful to think about.

This week in our philosophies of history class we'll focus on Postcolonial History & Subaltern Studies. We'll discuss Said, Guha, Prakash, and (a little) Spivak. I look forward to students' thoughts on subalternity, voices and voicelessness, and historically "provincializing" (the idea of) Europe. 🗃️
