I’m really glad my LA feed is helping people. My original goal in creating it was personal: find a local guy, ensnare him with my delightful posts, get married. But alas, no luck. Now, it's used to share info about fires and other disasters. So, at least something positive came from my desperation.
So what's the vibe here like these days?

I don't know if it was a good idea or bad idea (for my mental health) to read two books about Hitler's rise back to back, but if you also want to scare the shit out of yourself and feel prepared for what comes next, read Berlin Diary by William S. Shirer and In the Garden of Beasts by Erik Larson.

I get evacuation alerts multiple times a day and when I click the link for more info the evacuation area is nowhere near me. The LA disaster alert system is a real [opens thesaurus] bloodbath.

Morning. Reading some of my newsletters and a bit shocked how much barely disguised glee there is at the death of DEI. Particularly in some of the creative businesses.

Seriously, f-k off with your City of Los Angeles vs LA County discourse. Especially now. People from Lancaster to Long Beach say they live in LA, and they are correct. If anyone says, "Well, ackshually, Santa Monica is its own city, so you didn’t grow up in LA,” they deserve to get punched.

I hope my LA people are okay. I'm not in an evacuation zone (yet), but it looks like the apocalypse.

Uhhhh how do I find out how I made my feed? It was like a year ago and it needs work. What was the feed builder we were all using back when making custom feeds was new?

I like it here because it makes me feel less alone. Twitter is for fighting and Instagram is for bragging. It’s refreshing to see people having friendly conversations on social media.

I know people will be tempted to screenshot-dunk here in lieu of quote-dunking. May I suggest hiding the person’s ID-ing info before you do? Especially if they're a small account. Ask yourself: Do I want to give them attention and trigger a pile-on, or do I just want to respond to what they said?
