So chaos magic theory uses the word "gnosis": an ideal trance state for magic work. You achieve it by total inhibition (eg lack of thoughts/movement) OR total excitement (eg peak sexual state).
I like this split because it describes hypnosis -- and hypnosis for me is often both!
