Yeah sorry seeing that Olivia Nuzzi was making songs about being "jailbait" at 16 and no parent stepped in, that she was scooped up by a MUCH older and MUCH more powerful man when she was concerningly young...

This seems like a much sadder story than the current discourse on it suggests

Clay Higgins was the only member of the House to vote against releasing the Epstein files.

His record also includes allegedly putting a gun to the head of one of his ex-wives, voting for a neo-Nazi, and assaulting an unarmed Black man while working as a cop.

Rep. Clay Higgins’ racist tweet is only the tip of the iceberg

Is the lesson of human history the commonality of all people across the world and our shared interest in opposing all forms of hatred and bigotry and the way that we all deserve a free and fair life?

Some people apparently don't agree with that. I just can't fathom how that quote was meant to go.
I'm struck by this clip of former Obama speechwriter Sarah Hurwitz saying Holocaust education has backfired in part because people Palestinians as victims: "They think the lesson of the Holocaust is…you fight the big powerful people hurting the weak people."

A lesson in political context:

I was born in the year 2001. I remember 2008 as "Obama is good and it was a big win."

I followed 2012 somewhat and thought Obama would win despite most people around me.

In 2014 I remember feeling grim at the Senate flipping.

In 2015, Bernie Sanders excited me.

it is almost as if accommodating and conceding to far right ideas legitimizes them and signals to voters that the far right is a legitimate choice for governance
The Danish Social Democrats are currently on course for their worst election result since at least the Second World War, despite their brand of far-right accommodationism being touted as a blueprint for other centre-left parties.

I remember when Joe Biden was slightly dismissive of a certain Fox News hack (who is notably a MAN) and everyone clutched their pearls. No outcry for this rank misogyny from a known rapist and rather generally grotesque man.
When asked if there was anything "incriminating" in Epstein's emails, Trump pointed a finger in a female reporter's face and snapped. 'Quiet. Quiet, Piggy.'

Remember when Ed Case, US House Democrat from Hawaii, voted against married women being able to vote?

That was this year. 2025.

Seems like a problem that many Dems still rely upon and subscribe to the content of many obviously right-wing media outlets masquerading as centrist or even supposedly "left." I think this might be improving somewhat with voters, but oof the politicians especially.

So what's the deal with Iowa

Ann Selzer was wrong, which is never supposed to happen, and now Iowa is looking very blue in the leadup to 2026, seemingly vindicating her... but that's not how things went! So is there something wrong in polling there or did she truly premiere a massive shift?

I think it’s great that our media elites have decided that men in their 30s saluting Hitler are just rambunctious kids who got carried away, while 16-year old girls being trafficked and raped by billionaires are “underage women” making informed choices. Definitely reflects well on us as a society.

And rather than driving the rich away, IPS researchers found that the number of millionaires has *increased.*

Hey so “underage girls” are…children. The word you’re looking for is children. They’re not like, women-in-waiting or women-lite or whatever. They’re children. I think some of you are very uncomfortable with what that means for you but it is still true.

Side note: I don't trust you if you support Platner but not Abughazaleh. The model is right there for a sincere left-wing candidate who believes in and lives their values. And no Nazi tattoos are present.
It was very disturbing to learn all this stuff about Platner, very saddening honestly, I hope this polling that he's toast against Collins though motivates us all to either cheer on someone else against Mills or just... cope. Demand that she support getting rid of the filibuster in 2029.
