Morality is like the rules of a game we’re all playing together.

The rules tell us what counts as fair play and what’s out of bounds.

No wonder the orange toddler is unhinged once again.

The Obamas are competent, classy, loving, Harvard and Princeton graduates, loved by many, not on the Epstein files, got the Nobel Peace Prize, and gave us a steady economy to boot.

Repost this if you agree they are AMAZING and an inspiration!

Cassandra screaming her head off has never been more relatable
🧵

I am sorry, but I need these thoughts out of my head.

However, they do not need to be in your head too.

They are the dark nightmares of Cassandra, looking at the USA and, by extension, warning all of us.

Skip this thread if you cannot read it right now.

A reminder to the news media: “conflicting accounts” is what you say BEFORE the incontrovertible video evidence appears. After that, your job is to ask why one side is lying, not to repeat the lie and pretend no one knows the truth.

Might be a little too heavy. I'm most certainly wrong about this, but here's where I've landed.

Morality is neither divinely inspired nor completely subjective.

The only people I see asking this question are Christians who claim that morality is objective and absolute.

That's strange because Christians are also the only ones I see who consistently claim that genocide can be moral and righteous.

🤔
By what standard is genocide wrong?

In her book Give People Money (2018), Annie Lowrey makes the case that Universal Basic Income (UBI) is the essential "floor" for a world where technology is rapidly decoupling economic growth from human labor.

"On its face, genocide is not good, but..."

I feel like anyone who starts a sentence that way loses their authority to speak on matters of morality.

I've been researching the idea of Unconditional Universal Basic Income since 2013. Here's a collection of findings I've compiled from various UBI experiments and studies of cash transfer programs around the world.

This will be a VERY LONG and ongoing thread focused entirely on empirical evidence. 🧵

Happy New Year, my dear friends and fellow humans!

As the year turns, may we care for one another, seek truth over propaganda, and think beyond our egos. May we act for justice, compassion, and the future our children will inherit. Humanity thrives only when we rise together. Happy New Year. 💛

Poverty is a policy choice. Concentrated wealth is a policy choice. Inequality is a policy choice. None of it is natural or inevitable. Remember: We have the power to build a system that serves the many, not the powerful few.

'Life is like a piece of string. It has a beginning and an end. We don't get much say about that. But we can make choices about the bit in between. We have the freedom to shape our own lives.'

I treat worship of gods much the same way as I treat consumption of alcohol.

It can be comforting, and you should be entirely free to do it so long as you do it responsibly and don't hurt others. It's also an adult choice that should not be foisted on minors.
