Money does not buy happiness. What it buys is *stability*, which lets one pursue that which makes one happy. If that's work, then great. If it's art, or science, or philosophy, then that's even better.

If we took all the money away from the billionaires, the rest of us would be just fine.

Hey folks, if you read my recent blog post, you may be surprised to hear this but unfortunately my main source of support has abruptly ended today and I am scrambling to figure out how to replace both boring support (like help with dishes) and emergency support (when I have serious MCAS attacks).
Genuine q for other folks with MCAS:

(please note if you do not have MCAS and reply unhelpfully to this, I will block you for wasting all of our time)

If you regularly wake up to anaphylactoid crises in the middle of the night, what is your support strategy? Do you live w/ someone you can wake up?

Followup: I went to my Friendly Local Comics Store and put in my first pull list order. The Ultimate comics line is the most amazing thing happening in comics in a really long time and I'm not gonna miss any more.
gottem.
I have listened now to every single episode of 52 Pickup from @xoxogossipgita.bsky.social & @alexjaffe.bsky.social . It has been a fantastic listen. I recommend everyone who's even remotely interested in comics to listen to and read along with this show. It's worth the time and effort to listen to.

Last RT: I cannot explain how exciting it is to see @xoxogossipgita.bsky.social and team's success with @aftermath.site get to the point where they can bring in contributors.

Like @remapradio.bsky.social bringing @gameonysus.bsky.social and @danika.bsky.social, watching journalism thrive rocks.

I would go so far as to say that one should not buy or drink unpasteurized milk unless you have some sort of religious restriction. Pasteurization is one of the greatest discoveries of human history and has saved uncounted lives.

To me, this is the quintessence of Batman. I'm not a huge Batman fan, but to know that's the thing that sits inside his heart, that makes me like him more.

The Missouri Is where I was born; the Columbia is where I make my home.
My favorite Twitter prompt was "RT this with your home river," so reskeet this with your home river.

The entirety of my family came to the United States because of one thing:

The British.
Genuinely curious: If your family is American, what brought them here?
Mine: religious nuttery & primogeniture

Gods, if I was just 10 years younger, I would be actively working on a campaign for the Oregon 2nd. It's a Republican seat right now, but I'd be willing to bet the race would be competitive.

But I'm tired, and I'm a coward, so I'm leaving instead.

Good luck. You're going to need it.

It’s still January.

This month has been five months long.

Will January 2026 ever end? Or will it stretch on forever, the end receding before us like the speed of light, impossible to reach, moments stretching like taffy, ever greater effort to make every second tick down…

Pew has Trump's approval at 37%. And:

"Only about a quarter of Americans today (27%) say they support all or most of Trump’s policies and plans, down from 35% when he returned to office last year. That change has come entirely among Republicans."

Being allergic to basically everything sucks.

Wear a fucking mask.
“We have seen asthma, allergic rhinitis, hives/urticaria, environmental and food allergies, with the most common being asthma. But then there is also a good subset of patients developing mast cell activation symptoms,” -me

Signal is more secure than most digital platforms for communication but also you should not plot crimes in Signal because Signal is only as secure as the weakest person in your groupchat when under interrogation by police and also planning crimes in writing makes your lawyer cry.
