The PM won’t call out Trump over Venezuela, and won’t commit to Europe. His refusal to choose leaves vital choices for Britain to be made by others, says Guardian columnist Rafael Behr

Exactly one Allied combat fatality happened in Greenland during World War II, and he was a Danish soldier on patrol killed in a firefight with a German weather station crew.

Someone should come up with a system to print out the news on a piece of paper and deliver it from home to home.

Maybe call it a Paper of News.

So much incredible stuff in this piece about a January 6 protester (jailed, pardoned) and a January 6 cop (injured, bemused about Trump's re-election) but something that stands out is that both of them feel haunted by being captured in a viral image www.theatlantic.com/magazine/202...

It contains Helen Lewis’s phrase describing his ex, Kimberley Guilfoyle’s “open-casket MAGA makeover.” Lewis is an exquisite writer.
I went to Sacramento to profile Gavin Newsom, governor of California and purveyor of mean tweets about Trump. I was pretty surprised by what I found:

I don't often agree with Donald Trump.

But this time he is absolutely, positively 💯 percent correct.

Please help us make poor Donald's nightmare come true:

TAPPER: Can you rule out the US is going to take Greenland by force?

MILLER: Greenland should be part of the US. By what right does Denmark assert control over Greenland? The US is the power of NATO

T: So force is on the table?

M: Nobody is gonna fight the US militarily over future of Greenland

So Miller got Policy. Polish. Poland. The Department of Poland. Software. Delivery. Delivery generally. It's a big team. Everybody's working great. Other than that I don't want to say.
COLLINS: Stephen, you're part of the group the president has said is running Venezuela. What are your day to day responsibilities?

STEPHEN MILLER: ... heh heh. The president has asked Rubio to be the lead

C: But what are you specifically doing?

M: I don't want to talk too much about myself

im genuinely curious if this resonates with voters. this naked appeal to imperialism from a shrieking, shrill man
MILLER: The US is using its military to secure our interests unapologetically in our hemisphere. We're a superpower. It's absurd we'd allow a nation in our backyard to become a supplier of resources to our adversaries

TAPPER: Sovereign countries shouldn't be able to do what they want?

I greatly admire the brave Lionel Shriver, she of We Need to Talk About Kevin and the magnificent short story Kilifi Creek. Am wondering now if her new novel can still "fill a cultural space." Trump filled it first, with blood. You can't outrun him. www.publishersweekly.com/pw/by-topic/...
