I should probably start my 2026 media thread given I've already watched two movies this year. Okay, here goes.

Hey folks Calvary Food Shelf has been helping out people in Minneapolis for 30 years, and now they’re ramping up to meet the crisis, including doing home deliveries so people don’t have to risk going out.

They’re just over halfway to their current goal—let’s get them all the way, shall we?

And this isn't all. There's also a sense that if you want your needs met, you have to speak up and let folks know you have those needs. Only if your needs are things like alt text or closed captions or transcripts or masks or air cleaning or transportation or clear sidewalks, you get called a scold.
It's rare for folks doing local community organizing to ask who's not there and why they're not there.

The assumption is "the people who care and who we should care about are here".

X is claiming it’s restricted the ability to generate explicit deepfakes with Grok, and plenty of media outlets are parroting it without checking.

But it’s still easy to get Grok to generate the very same “undressing” photos causing this scandal in the first place.
X claims it has stopped Grok from undressing people, but of course it hasn’t
It’s still easy to get Grok to edit photographs of real people into sexualized poses, despite X’s updated restrictions.

Evening! $1480 left to go! It would be pretty great to get a little closer before the day ends.

Will you share this if you see it? Thank you!
Good morning! We have $1480 left to raise to recover from the layoffs of 2025. I am working a new job now, but my first full paycheck is still weeks away.

Thank you so much for helping!

AI is NOT inevitable. It is NOT required. It does NOT have to have a place in our lives anywhere, in any industry, for any reason. Save yourself the time, money, and moral taint on your soul and just DON'T USE IT! It is literally that easy! (9/9)

And I am LIVID that the companies, services, and people who profess to uphold the integrity and protection of freedom of speech, knowledge, and expression are making such statements and sprinting willfully down the road that destroys the very things they supposedly stand for. (8/9)

Life's complicated and there are a lot of grey areas. AI ISN'T ONE OF THEM. And they KNOW that! These statements are admissions of conscious wrongdoing! "Hey, that thing that's bad--yeah, we know it's bad, but we're going to use it anyway." That's what they're saying. (7/9)

5) "...we will not share personally identifiable information with...AI systems..."

Why are you using the thing YOU DON'T TRUST, huh? If it is so untrustworthy that you have to reassure your users that you won't share a single thing with it, then WHY ARE YOU INTEGRATING IT ANYWHERE?!?! (6/9)

4) "Human Oversight and Accountability"

You know AI is prone to errors, some of deadly consequence, you admit to needing humans to watch over it AND YET YOU STILL WANT TO USE IT?! You are just adding an unnecessary step to the entire production when YOU CAN JUST USE HUMANS FROM THE GET GO! (5/9)

And what? You just don't care? Wow. Really telling on yourself there.

"...and we will strive to minimize it..."

You know what would not just minimize the impact, but completely stop it altogether? NOT USING AI!!! (4/9)

2) "[AI]...is offering opportunities...provides opportunities..."

And the answer is NO, THANK YOU. If it is an offer, then it is optional. Again, no one is forcing you to add these features; you are the ones trying to force them on your users. Stop it. Let the "opportunity" pass you by. (3/9)

Stop saying this like something has been done that can't be undone, like you're being forced into something. You're not being forced; you're forcing it on others. Uncool. (2/9)
