Step 1: Manhattan.
Step 2: Everywhere else.
Year 1 data on congestion pricing in Manhattan…

* Vehicle traffic: -11%
* Foot traffic: +3.4%
* Storefront vacancy: -0.9%
* Pollution: -22%
* Revenue for mass transit: $548M

So YES this has been a huge success.

People have historically, and rightfully, seen the evil of Guantanamo, Abu Gharib, and now CECOT for what it is, but I wish more people would also see the evil in our domestic prisons too. How we treat our most vulnerable, including prisoners, really sets the tone for our whole society.
I don’t mean to sound extreme, but I don’t think we should have torture camps for people with criminal records either.

It's 2025, and we're sharing bootleg 60 Minutes segments broadcast in other countries because our own country is being run by fascists and their billionaire-owned state media helpers, just as the Founding Fathers intended, of course.

False alarm. It's some other service called hoopla that's logo looks almost exactly the same that I got subscribed to at some point. Very confusing.
I got an email today from Hoopla that they’re shutting down at the end of this week and it’s hard not to think that that’s tied to libraries losing funding and cutting back on services like theirs.

Look I’m not a “fuck your feelings” person…except when it comes to people doing horrendous shit like sending people to torture prisons. Then truly, seriously: fuck your feelings. I don’t get care if you feel bad about it. You should’ve thought of that before you sent people to a torture prisons
The full Weiss memo is dogshit
-who cares if administration figures “regret” sending people to CECOT
-who cares about the criminal histories of the people we sent to CECOT, we sent them to a torture prison
—who cares about the “debate” over the legality of sending people to a torture prison

Found the actual men in women's bathrooms assaulting women.
ICE agents illegally break into a woman's bathroom in a NY nutrition bar manufacturing plant. "Pull up your pants," says a male agent. The agents only had a warrant to review employer documents. They didn't have a warrant to search for, detain, or arrest anyone there.

Asking this seriously: has Bari Weiss ever in her career reported out an investigative story?

Love that tracking helicopters flying over our neighborhoods is just a regular practice for us Chicagoans now. What a time to be alive.
FYI northside of Chicago, fed chopper flying northbound across Lake Michigan, maybe some more ICE bullshit incoming @unraveledpress.com

Me: I'm on vacation now. I can relax and decompress from a busy weekend.
Also me: Fuck! I forgot I have to write a play by 2pm tomorrow.

This list is also a great way to find local groups that might need volunteer help. It's how I've found orgs that I've worked with in the past year.

And i’ve said before, guilt is useless and can easily curdle into resentment. A sense of moral obligation and solidarity on the other hand, can be productive.

This is fantastic news, a triumph of medicine! And the overall cervical cancer rate in Oz is dropping, too, almost certainly due to HPV vaccinations.

And exactly the sort of progress RFK Jr. is trying to kill. Along with killing our citizens.
Congrats to Australia, this is really cool!

Goldman joined with Republicans to censure Rashida Tlaib—the only Palestinian American member of Congress—for speaking out against the Israeli government's genocide in Gaza.

So it's pretty fucking rich for him to whine about someone "attacking their own" now.

I think the reason I never hated Ziggy is because I saw Generation Kill before The Wire and I was already so attached to Ransone after that.
Everything is understandably mentioning The Wire, but James Ransone (RIP) stole the show in Generation Kill.
