Dimon on why JPMorgan Chase is not funding WH Ballroom:
We have an issue, which is anything we do, since we do a lot of contracts with governments here and around the world, we have to be very careful how anything is perceived, and also how the next DOJ is going to deal with it.

Shout out to University of Washington - so many good things came out of my 4 years there and so many doors opened to me.
Really important to stress that the Crown Jewels of the US higher education system were never the Ivies or elite SLACs (other countries have equivalents of these) but the well-funded, large, cheap, and excellently staffed public state university systems bringing high quality education to the masses.
One of the bragging rights that the US ed system had in the 20th century is that we didn't have education tracks. Essentially, any kid could go to a CC or state school & major in whatever they wanted to (obviously an oversimplification). I fear this aspect of the American dream is dying.

Medicare for All would save $450B a year.

Every dollar spent on food stamps generates $1.50-$1.80 in economic activity.

Each dollar going to low-wage workers adds $1.20 to the economy overall.

It’s not about what this country can or can’t afford.

It’s about priorities.

OPINION: "[A]s parents, we must listen—really listen—to the reasons our children consider enlistment. Maybe it’s to escape poverty. Maybe it’s identity, structure or honor. Maybe they believe they have no other choice. It is our responsibility to show them that they do," Horace Small writes.

This bill doesn’t address the core issue that millions of Americans will no longer be able to afford ACA insurance coverage next year. I’m willing to work with anyone to create a path forward but this isn’t it.

I don’t know how many times I’ve watched this video.

I don’t know how we’ve gotten to the point where men in full balaclavas can abduct daycare teachers while they’re watching children.

But I do know that this isn’t sustainable. Abolish ICE. There is no way to reform this.

I can only imagine the stress people are feeling as this *unnecessary* government shutdown continues. Next week, SNAP benefits will not be distributed to people. If you can, send some support. In Seattle, we do monthly donations to Rainier Valley FB & Ballard: www.ballardfoodbank.org/donate

For real, though, I am fortunate to be in a place where I don't have to choose between this grocery run and, say, my water bill. But I've been there before, and I worry about my neighbors and community members who have to make those kinds of choices. It sucks, and it doesn't have to be like this.
