With mere hours left to go in Hispanic Heritage Month, we put the finishing touches on our storymap we created with our partners @greenlatinos.org that celebrates the contributions Latinos have made to Environmental Justice. It is but a portion of the story but I really hope you'll engage with it.
Hispanic Heritage Month 2025

The defining feature of U.S. democracy has been the unwillingness to hold white conservatives to the rule of law. Time & again, when democratic systems seemed to threaten their power, white conservatives sabotaged existing systems. That dynamic makes democracy impossible.

I'd just like to point out how weird it is that places with hundreds or even thousands of reporters — the NYT, WaPo, CBS, NBC, AP, etc. — are all getting pummeled on every major story by the dozen computerboys at Wired. To fumble the bag this consistently is, at some point, cowardice and a choice.

March is Women’s History Month.

I hesitate to share, as the Regime may burn our library in retaliation, but check this out:

“Women have been an integral part of the Forest Service since its inception and these stories celebrate this part of that legacy.”

Remember tomorrow that the origins of Thanksgiving- as a truly national holiday- came from the work of Sarah Hale and Abraham Lincoln. A nation gave thanks to God as it mourned the Union dead and prayed for the defeat of the Confederacy by either changing rebel minds or bringing them to submission.

The starter pack titles are cracking me up. They used to be (yoostabee!) called things like "People I Follow Who Don't Suck."
Now they're like "Experts in Gram-Negative Citrus Phytopathogens Who Use Long-Read Metagenomic Approaches."

It's currently Banned Books Week and I'd love to use this moment to remind you that book bans aren't about the books.

They're about silencing marginalized people (and creating the permission structure for their harm) and defunding institutions of public learning.
