Sozialstaat schleifen, AfD füttern, Energiewende abwürgen. Die CDU lässt nichts aus. Was diese Partei dem Land gerade antut, zerstört Gegenwart und Zukunft in einem Aufwasch. Wer so regiert, hat mit diesem Land nichts mehr vor. Dem ist alles egal, außer der eigenen Klientel.

Damit sollte es auch die Konsequenzen tragen müssen, sich als Teil der globalen Rechten positioniert zu haben. Und dass es Konsequenzen von denjenigen Menschen geben muss, die für Demokratie zu kämpfen bereit sind, liegt glaube ich auf der Hand; von selbst ändert sich da gar nichts.

Es ist doch eigentlich ganz einfach: Medienhäuser haben über Jahre das Phatom ‚linke Zensur‘ für die Rechten gepusht. Spätestens jetzt ist in den USA eindeutig sichtbar, dass dieselben Leute tatsächlich zensieren. Jedes Medienhaus, das jetzt keine aktive Kehrtwende macht, tut das bewusst.

Trump is doing to politics what biz schools taught future CEOs to do: break the social contract (e.g., the one btw mgmt & labor that once ensured steady jobs) & extract all the value stored inside.

If I was the commander in chief of the Imperial hegemon I would simply not dismantle the network of military and diplomatic alliances, favourable trade deals, and broad cultural paramountcy that had made my nation the most wealthy and powerful the world has ever seen.

Truly bizarre press conference under way. Trump claims the US will rule Venezuela for now--but no details. Actually, the Venezuelan military is now in charge and there seems to be no plan to get rid of them. And all the blame is being put on Maduro (and his wife).

One often forgotten aspect of the old "republic -- if you can keep it" chestnut is that a republic can't be an empire. It might lie to itself about remaining the former or not being the latter, but it can't be both.
