Maybe it’s my current state of mind, but 50 year mortgages and 15 year car terms are reasons to revolt in the most iconic ways

In my old town the GOP had run basically without serious challenge for decades. A bunch of us "millennials" joined the local Dem party and basically asked to help.

We were running it in a year. Within 4 years we had a majority of town seats flipped Dem. A FAR more progressive Dem than old party
“Rather than taking over the Democratic Party the same way the right took over the Republican Party, we should take the easier route and just start up a new party ourselves!”

I’m about to fill my pockets with stones and walk into the sea.

Listening to my mom chat on the phone with her oldest friend, who doesn’t know that my mom has dementia. I’m valiantly resisting the urge to fact check as she shares wildly inaccurate details about our lives. It’s really hard, even though I know it doesn’t matter.

Read every word & share with everyone you know. This is real life here in Chicago. Americans need to know this grotesque reality & stand with us.
Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

In under 1600 words.

In these dark times we must take joy wherever we find it, and I delight in every picture of how hideous Trump has made his White House look. No part of the decoration has been made to fit with any other. It’s a parody of elitism: witless, crude, clumsy, jarring, cheap, ugly, pathetic. It’s so him
Just a little more gold and it will be perfect

It's party city for me this coming weekend. Need to launder all my going out clothes. Friendsgiving, sex reveal, graduation/birthday party...

I need $200 for substitute care for Ma. I would really like to go hang out with my friends, but I must also be responsible. If you can help:
Pay Firma Francisque using PayPal.Me
Go to paypal.me/FirmaFrancisque and type in the amount. Since it’s PayPal, it's easy and secure. Don’t have a PayPal account? No worries.

You can tell how much money is tied up in chatbots because it's getting the kind of fearful leeway even as it demonstrably causes the deaths of children that we normally only allow for guns

I thought I was on top of this stuff, but I just looked and there were a bunch more content filters to reset since the last time I’d checked. 🙄 (is an eyeroll rude? I meant it to be…)
Wondering why no one likes your posts anymore, even among your friends? It's because @jay.bsky.team and team have decided to hide a huge amount of content from all of our feeds by default.

Here's how to turn it off.

First go to the hamburger menu in the upper left corner

Finished watching #Wayward on Netflix with my mom. Created by and starring Mae Martin, and with Toni Collette at her intense best, it’s a fun, dark, twisty thriller. Engaging characters, compelling story lines, and I’m always a sucker for anything set in Vermont. Recommend.

Earlier this year, I met a Croatian journalist who was in the US doing a piece on America’s politics and I asked her what surprised her. And she said, “What you all call the far left is just being normal.”

any democrat running in the midterms can win by simply stating that there will be hearings and trials
NEW: Footage of a US citizen in Chicago being rammed then dragged from her car on her way to work.

Abducted, with no warrant, her family couldn’t find her for hours.

She was later released with NO CHARGE.

A DHS statement said she “violently resisted arrest, injuring two officers”.

You decide…

So to this administration, merely showing up to protest and yell at ICE and CBP agents is a justification for violence. Bovino is really just frothing for opportunities to kill people.
Overnight court filings seem to be giving us a peek at what U.S. Border Patrol commander Greg Bovino said in his deposition so far (it apparently continues today):

We’re in a strange limbo where secret police are routinely beating, disappearing, and shooting everyday people in public, but they’ve not yet consolidated enough power to stop us from talking about it on social media. That imbalance prob can’t last. Either we roll them back or this gets rolled up .

Please don't worry. I speak for all stoners when I say I will not waste my precious and expensive gummies on your child
It’s that time of year again so I will say: no one is tricking your kids into taking weed gummies. This is a moral panic.

SNAP isn't about "people who don't work." It's about people who don't get paid enough to live.

Of the 40 or so million people who rely on food stamps:

* Two-thirds are children, seniors, or disabled

* Most working-age adults who receive SNAP are employed—but in jobs that pay poverty wages
