Monolithsoft still staying around cuz Nintendo just cares about institutional knowledge like that. Doesn't even matter if Xenoblade X doesn't make the big bucks! It is healthier long term to keep humans employed.
Nintendo using their financial stability to make sure that their devs can make games without the threat of a single failure leading to being shuttered should be the norm rather than the exception

There's vestiges of the game having a little more friction that was sanded away during development. Like how Wilds lets you skip travel whenever you want even mid-combat - yet the farcaster is still in the game?
Or why paintballs are even there when everything is autotracked?

it's like they came up with this big vision for MH but are so afraid the player might not like it that they pussy out at every turn, leaving Wilds as a subpar normal entry with nothing particularly special to its name
