makes me think of the warnings people have often made of the unaccountable power of server owners on “decentralized” social media
BlueSky is a bad site used by good people. That describes most social media sites. But BlueSky is egregiously unethical. Any of you can be disappeared for baseless reasons. I've been on social media for 17 years and never been suspended. BlueSky is the first place to do so – over Johnny Cash lyrics.

This article in @taz.de about settler violence opens with @amnesty.org Apartheid report, claiming misleadingly that this report speaks of "'Apartheid' in the palestinian territories". They even link to the report.
If they had looked at the report, they would know better

Just like vague innovation wont solve it, neither will AI. It's all the same jumbled mishmash don't let anybody especially the billionaires fool you.
By ignoring massive corruption by the fossil fuel industry, and massive wrongful subsidy of fossil fuel by allowing “pollute-for-free” business model, Gates gave aid and comfort to the deniers: “Bill Gates says innovation is going to solve this,” I often heard.

I have seen students who are scared NOT to use GenAI. To me it seems like the same anxiety I’ve been seeing for years, where students are terrified of submitting work with any mistakes.

(Bless the arts/humanities faculty, who have bucked this trend by terrifying students about using GenAI at all.)

Replacement of cognitive activity is not neutral. It removes the activity from consciousness
I split AI into 3 non-mutually exclusive types (see Table 1 above): displacement (harmful), enhancement (beneficial), and/or replacement (neutral) of human cognitive labour. More later possibly, but see Tables 2 to 4 (attached or here: arxiv.org/pdf/2507.19960) for the worked through examples. 2/n
