BlueSky is a bad site used by good people. That describes most social media sites. But BlueSky is egregiously unethical. Any of you can be disappeared for baseless reasons. I've been on social media for 17 years and never been suspended. BlueSky is the first place to do so – over Johnny Cash lyrics.

In the past, the tech religions were satirical. Now they’re just fooling people into believing the tech really is God to prey on them.
We at the Church of Google believe the search engine Google is the closest humankind has ever come to directly experiencing an actual God (as typically defined). We believe there is much more evidence in favour of Google's divinity than there is for the divinity of other more traditional gods. We reject supernatural gods on the notion they are not scientifically provable. Thus, Googlists believe Google should rightfully be given the title of "God", as She exhibits a great many of the characteristics traditionally associated with such Deities in a scientifically provable manner. We have compiled a list of nine proofs which definitively prove Google is the closest thing to a "god" human beings have ever directly experienced.

8 Do not Embrace AI In this paper, we unpacked why we think psychologists need to be on high alert — not just to avoid another replication crisis, but to avoid the total collapse of our science. What we signpost in Table 1 may have been novel to readers until this point, but the deeper problems are absolutely known. Also, as Crystal Steltenpohl et al. (2023, pp. 9–10) state: “Intentions alone are not enough to move science forward. Creating responsible, considered processes for rigorously transparent open science requires involving interested parties from a wide range of backgrounds, perspectives, research areas, and training paradigms.” Indeed, because many such warnings go unheeded — such as the need for a cultivation of shared values and especially the principles of impartiality of researchers and academic freedom from corporate influence — we find ourselves in polycrises that affect our universities, political systems, planet, and ultimately all humanity. “When historians of science look back on the 2010s in social and personality psychology, the decade will likely stand out as a period of exceptional doubt and self-scrutiny in the field.” (Schiavone & Vazire, 2023, p. 710) Why did we ever stop? Should we ever stop? Importantly, Hazel Rose Markus (2005, p. 180, emphasis added) explains that: “Social psychology is often defined as the study of how people respond to and are influenced by other people” Algorithms, chatbots, LLMs, machines, models, inanimate objects are not people — they are the products of people (Guest, 2024, 2025). And to paraphrase Rae Carlson (1984): What’s social about chatbots? Where’s the person in an LLM? We must sure up our subfields from the slow but certain corrosive power wielded by the harmful nonsense that is modern displacement AI. To sit idly by while deskilling and displacing of our students, participants, and selves is normalised — or worse still to profit from it — serves not science but the technology sector, which avoids criticism and self-reflection and prefers pseudoscience and misinformation.

3.2 We do not have to ‘embrace the future’ & we can turn back the tide It must be the sheer magnitude of [artificial neural networks’] incompetence that makes them so popular. Jerry A. Fodor (2000, p. 47) Related to the rejection of expertise is the rejection of imagining a better future and the rejection of self-determination free from industry forces (Hajer and Oomen 2025; Stengers 2018; van Rossum 2025). Not only AI enthusiasts, but even some scholars whose expertise concentrates on identifying and critically interrogating ideologies and sociotechnical relationships — such as historians and gender scholars — unfortunately fall prey to the teleological belief that AI is an unstoppable force. They embrace it because alternative responses seem too difficult, incompatible with industry developments, or non-existent. Instead of falling for this, we should “refuse [AI] adoption in schools and colleges, and reject the narrative of its inevitability.” (Reynoldson et al. 2025, n.p., also Benjamin 2016; Campolo and Crawford 2020; CDH Team and Ruddick 2025; Garcia et al. 2022; Kelly et al. 2025; Lysen and Wyatt 2024; Sano-Franchini et al. 2024; Stengers 2018). Such rejection is possible and has historical precedent, to name just a few successful examples: Amsterdammers kicked out cars, rejecting that cycling through the Dutch capital should be deadly. Organised workers died for the eight-hour workday, the weekend and other workers’ rights, and governments banned chlorofluorocarbons from fridges to mitigate ozone depletion in the atmosphere. And we know that even the tide itself famously turns back. People can undo things; and we will (cf. Albanese 2025; Boztas 2025; Kohnstamm Instituut 2025; van Laarhoven and van Vugt 2025). Besides, there will be no future to embrace if we deskill our students and selves, and allow the technology industry’s immense contributions to climate crisis

I have seen students who are scared NOT to use GenAI. To me it seems like the same anxiety I’ve been seeing for years, where students are terrified of submitting work with any mistakes.

(Bless the arts/humanities faculty, who have bucked this trend by terrifying students about using GenAI at all.)

Reformationtag - Predigt 2025 Bischof Dr. Sani Ibrahim Azar Liebe Brüder und Schwestern in Christus. Heute feiern wir den 508. Jahrestag der lutherischen Reformation. Diese Reformation war eine Zeit der Rückkehr zur Bibel, um eine neue Beziehung und ein neues Verständnis von Gottes Willen für die Menschen zu beginnen. Unsere Kirche ist Teil dieser Reformation. Wir begannen in den 1950er Jahren als evangelische Kirche. Als der Lutherische Weltbund seine Arbeit in der Region aufnahm, beschlossen wir, uns der lutherischen Gemeinschaft anzuschließen. 1959 wurden wir eine lutherische Kirche. Viele unserer Gemeindemitglieder kamen aus anderen Konfessionen, wurden aber vor allem aufgrund der soliden lutherischen Ausbildung, die im Heiligen Land angeboten wurde, Lutheraner. Sie fanden sich in der lutherischen Tradition wieder. Unsere Gemeinden, Schulen und Dienste sind fest in unserer lutherischen Identität der Reformation verwurzelt und halten diese seit Jahrzehnten in unserer Kirche lebendig. Unser Bekenntnis zur Reformation prägt unsere Rolle und Mission in unserer Gesellschaft. Als unsere Kirche gegründet wurde, galten die Lutheraner in der Region als sehr gläubige Menschen und hingebungsvolle Anhänger der Bibel. Durch die Arbeit des LWB in der Region verfestigte sich die Vorstellung, dass Lutheraner Christen sind, die nicht nur beten, sondern auch handeln. Indem wir den Menschen Nahrung, Unterkunft, Medizin und Bildung zur Verfügung stellten, wurde unsere Identität nicht nur zu einer Frage des Wortes, sondern auch des Dienstes. Später spielten die lokalen Lutheraner eine wichtige Rolle im interreligiösen Dialog. In den 1970er Jahren, die manchmal als das goldene Zeitalter des interreligiösen Dialogs in Israel und Palästina angesehen werden, waren wir eine führende Kirche in den Diskussionen zwischen Muslimen, Juden und Christen. Wir konzentrierten uns auch auf den ökumenischen christlichen Dialog. Wir halfen bei der Gründung des Rates der Kirchen im Nahen Osten und ein… Heute erwarten die Menschen in Palästina von uns, dass wir uns gegen Ungerechtigkeit aussprechen, wo immer sie auftritt. Wir sind führend in der religiösen Arbeit zur Bewältigung der politischen Situation im Heiligen Land und darüber hinaus. In den letzten Jahrzehnten ist unsere Kirche zu einem festen Bestandteil jeder Dialoggruppe geworden. Das ist Teil unserer Aufgabe. Der rote Faden, der diese Geschichte verbindet, steht im Mittelpunkt unserer lutherischen Identität: die Reformation. Unser lutherischer Glaube führt uns dazu, eine Kirche der Reformation zu sein. Wir blicken stets nach vorne in die Zukunft. In unserer Arbeit mit dem Diakonischen Dienst, unseren Umweltinitiativen, unserem Dienst für Geschlechtergerechtigkeit, der Ordination von Frauen und unserer neuen Ordination von Diakonen befinden wir uns ständig im Reformprozess. Diese Dinge mögen heute als wesentliche Bestandteile unserer Arbeit erscheinen, aber es war nicht leicht, diese Schritte zu gehen. Es gibt immer Widerstand, aber das ist die Arbeit der Reformation. Aber wie sieht Reformation nach zwei Jahren Völkermord aus? Was bedeutet Reformation, wenn wir eine Welt, ein Land betrachten, das so zerbrochen ist? Wie sieht Reformation aus, wenn Kinder von Schulen getrennt sind, Gläubige von Kirchen getrennt sind, Familien durch Militärkontrollpunkte und Barrikaden voneinander getrennt sind? Wenn Menschen zu Unrecht inhaftiert sind? Wenn Familien immer noch unter Trümmern nach ihren Angehörigen suchen? Wenn die internationale Gemeinschaft das Leiden der Palästinenser ignoriert, ist das ein Aufruf zur Reformation. Wenn palästinensische Christen aus ihrer Heimat vertrieben werden und unsere Kirchen Gefahr laufen, zu Museen zu werden, ist das ein Aufruf zur Reformation. Wenn die vorherrschende Darstellung in den Medien die Palästinenser entmenschlicht und die Existenz palästinensischer Christen ignoriert, ist das ein Aufruf zur Reformation. Wir sind dankbar für den Waffenstillstand in Gaza. Wir beten dafür,… In Psalm 46, der Grundlage für Luthers berühmtes Kirchenlied „Eine feste Burg ist unser Gott", schreibt der Psalmist: „Er, der den Kriegen ein Ende macht in aller Welt, der Bogen zerbricht, Spieße zerschlägt und Wagen mit Feuer verbrennt. Seid stille und erkennet, dass ich Gott bin! Ich will mich erheben unter den Völkern, ich will mich erheben auf Erden. Der Herr Zebaoth ist mit uns, der Gott Jakobs ist unser Schutz." Trotz allem bleibt unsere Mission in unserer Gemeinde unerschütterlich. Wir sind immer noch hier, beten sonntags gemeinsam, bilden die nächste Generation aus, versorgen unsere Nachbarn mit Lebensmitteln, setzen uns für Gleichberechtigung der Geschlechter und Umweltschutz ein und fördern die Jugend unserer Kirche und Gemeinde. Selbst wenn wir das Gefühl haben, dass die Welt nicht auf unserer Seite steht, wissen wir, dass der allmächtige Gott, der den Bogen zerbricht und den Speer zerschlägt, mit uns ist. Gott ist unsere Festung und unsere Stärke, ganz gleich, wie die Umstände auch sein mögen. Unsere Kirche weiß seit langem, dass es nicht ausreicht, stillzustehen oder den Status quo aufrechtzuerhalten. Deshalb haben wir uns der schwierigen Aufgabe der kontinuierlichen Reformation verschrieben. Und jetzt stehen wir vor der Notwendigkeit einer Reformation in unserer gesamten Gesellschaft, Nation und Welt. Wie Luther wissen wir, dass diese Reformation nicht allein unser Werk ist, sondern dass wir diese Aufgabe durch Gottes Inspiration, Kraft und Gnade bewältigen. Ich bitte jeden von Ihnen, in der schwierigen Arbeit der Reformation zusammenzustehen. Wenn wir auf das schauen, was vor uns liegt, wissen wir, dass die Entscheidung nicht bei uns liegt. Gott zeigt uns den Weg, den wir gehen müssen. Mögen unsere nächsten Schritte von unserem gemeinsamen Glauben und von Christi Ruf an jeden von uns geleitet sein. „Der allmächtige HERR ist mit uns, der Gott Jakobs ist für uns eine sichere Burg."
