"By itself, the abstraction ‘impassible’ can get us nowhere. It might even suggest something ... Either something inert, or ... ‘Pure Act’ in such a sense that it could take no account of events within the universe it had created." - #CSLewis
But divine impassibility is NOT an abstraction.

1. From lung cancer to climate change, capitalist governments are notoriously slow to recognize and remedy the negative externalities generated by corporate activity.

Generative AI is no exception. Large language models are proving a disaster in numerous spheres of public life.

Well the right has demonstrated that they are more capable of carrying out a long term political strategy than the left, so if Labour stuff up this year I fear it won’t be a Green-Labour government we’ll see in November.

Incentives for language learning:
My 9yo just now:

“I bet no one in this house knows the word for the F word in Spanish or Japanese or Korean because Duolingo doesn’t teach it. I had to google that one myself!”

(I’ve told him he is only allowed to use them once he can actually speak the language 🤞)

Why it's called Kangaroo Island. This mob (some hand raised, others wild) shows up at our lodge most nights looking for food and water. Tamer roos are happy to be petted and spoiled with almonds.

Winston: “New Zealand recognises the leadership of the United States, in close coordination with nations from the region, on advancing peace in Gaza. We see a role for the Board of Peace in Gaza”

That would be funny if the situation wasdn't so serious.

Yes it could be argued that keeping up with world events is important but alternatively can I interest you in hugging an ancient mossy boulder that looks like a face and quietly listening while it tells you stories from centuries cloaked in mist.

Much like in horror movies when you can’t see whatever it is that’s lurking, about to strike, I feel like it’s worse when people who are really good at nefarious things step away from the public eye because you have less idea about what they’re up to, and when whatever it is they’re up to will hit 🤔

Wonder what it’s like being friends with someone complicit in enabling the murder, kidnapping and horrific treatment of thousands of people across the US and then blatantly lying about it, maybe NZ’s media should ask about that 🤔

In 1889 rebuilding work began in earnest. Today, Parihaka is a thriving community just south of Pungarehu in South Taranaki. Importantly, in June 2017, the Crown formally apologised to the community, describing the past events as ‘among the most shameful in the history of our land’.

Polish is a hard language to learn. As it’s a level 3 category for languages. But it can be learned. It’s not impossible. Meryl Streep learned it when making “ Sophie’s choice” ( 1982) and said “ Screw it! I’ll just learn Polish!” And learn she did!

Should lab-grown meat need labels like cigarettes? More states think so
Wisconsin could become the latest state to start labeling lab-grown meat when, or if, you find it at a grocery store, restaurant and more.

Ireland is a small country. But our own history urges us to stand against intimidation, whatever the odds.
If Trump carries on with this nonsense, it's hard to imagine the usual shamrock silliness in the White House on St. Patrick's Day, 2026! 🇮🇪 🇬🇱 🇩🇰

I mean, we still have never had info about why reporting the genocide in Gaza has been so fervently pro-Israel and pro-genocide. RNZ outright lied on multiple OIA requests, and then said that guidance didn't exist/was destroyed when the Ombudsman challenged them. Really foul.

Or if you really can’t bear to mask… after being in those busy human places a wee squirt of these antihistimine sprays or Flo Travel nasal spray.
