🌏 It's hard for people living OUTSIDE of the US to understand WHY no-one is STOPPING the Trump Admin from DESTROYING America & WHY on earth Trump LIES are broadcast 24/7

Aussie REGULATORS would NEVER allow that to happen here & I'm sure the same applies in Canada, France, the UK etc

Bishop Anthony Taylor's warning is very timely.
He is not unduly alarmist. Quite the contrary!

Trump's call to "nationalize" elections is just the latest indication of where things are headed.

More bishops & other leaders need to provide leadership in preserving and strengthening U.S. democracy.

In a world with far too much darkness, this young hero is a bright light.
After swimming 4 km through choppy waves, he had to run a further 2 km in order to reach a phone. Australia should be very proud of him! 🇦🇺 👍

'Superhuman' Australian teen swims hours to save family
Rescuers have praised a teenage boy's "superhuman" survival instincts after he swam four hours through choppy waters off Australia to find help for his family.

An article about Chomsky written more than 20 years ago, long before any Epstein revelations.
Not the first time that it has been shown that mere ‘cleverness’ is no guarantee of good judgement or moral integrity.

I don't associate even one of the terms below with the current occupant of the White House or his corrupt, cruel, authoritarian regime.
Good people in USA deserve so much better!
So do countless people throughout the world suffering the consequences of the world's most powerful country going rogue.

Fantastic achievement by Alcaraz.
And hats off to Djokovic also.
If Trump was watching, he should note how a true champ deals with a loss - no whining about the contest being stolen or rigged!
Djokovic's graciousness & acknowledgement of Alcaraz's talent make him a winner also!

In our time, the banality of evil-doing is exceptionally evident in the mediocrity (utterly virtue-deficient!) of those wielding great power & the pathetic sycophancy of those sustaining/flattering them & obeying their orders.
Thus has it ever been!
Like their predecessors, these too shall pass!

Excellent, thought-provoking article.
A Lonerganian perspective suggests that things may get better (<- shorter cycles of crises & recoveries)) before, inevitably, they get worse (<- a longer cycle of decline, due to generalised biases). Ultimately, God's redemptive grace offers grounds for hope!

I imagine all/most U.S. seminarians (a) already have the Liturgy of the Hours, or (b) have means to acquire a copy (via family, dioceses, etc.).
Bp. Barron says money came from "a generous donor".
I can think of more Gospel-inspired uses for that donation!

Dylan immortalised villains like William Zanzinger (in 'The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll') and Alfred Bello & Arthur Dexter Bradley (in 'Hurricane').
Springsteen has now guaranteed that the dark deeds of Trump, Miller & Noem will be remembered long after they depart this world. Some legacy!

"The United States is not Germany in the 1930s. But it is sobering to see similar patterns reemerging from that fateful decade. ... And we have reason to work to shore up our democracy before it is too late."
