There is no tent big enough to house a coalition where some members don’t believe in the inherent rights or freedoms of other members of the same coalition. You can’t ally with people that want you dead. It is a cruel, stupid, senseless thing to ask of anyone, but especially minorities of any kind.

My great grandfather came from Norway on his own at 14. He fought in the trenches of Europe during WWI. He lost a lung to mustard gas and had lifelong tuberculosis.
