Feels like a solid 90% of the people I know are unemployed or underemployed. (Even outside of animation.) My greatest dreams in life are finally traveling outside the country and owing a dog, and both feel like vastly out of reach luxuries I’ll never achieve. Breaks my damn heart.

Democratizing the arts looks like universal income, low-barrier grants for both emerging and working artists, well-funded municipal arts & recreation programs, vibrant third spaces, and a well-funded public school system with progressive curriculum.

I’ve been working retail part time until the animation jobs “come back”, and while it’s nowhere near a livable wage, it’s at a museum store, and I get free access to the museum grounds. This is the second time in my life I’ve had such access to a museum, and it’s oh-so precious to me
