Hot diggity, the video feed from the Wisconsin Senate Committee on Judiciary and Public Safety looked like a really disappointing version of Pink Floyd's original 1967 light show. One bright blur, a few dark burs moving around the fringe. The session is now underway, and in focus.

Referring the admin’s emergency petition to the whole court would have slowed down getting the payments out. We expect a First Circuit decision within the next day, day and a half. Monday a.m. tops. Stay tuned.
#BREAKING: Justice Jackson has issued an "administrative" stay, temporarily pausing a district court order that would've required the USDA to continue using contingency funds to pay SNAP benefits.

The stay expires 48 hours after the First Circuit rules on USDA's request for a stay pending appeal.

A number of the safety improvements for the Milwaukee County Jail, including suicide prevention, were approved as well. At least one person decried the jail audit as a total waste of resources. Yet without the audit, these improvements would not have been made. Square that circle for me?

Good local governance is shown when a government effectively responds to a crisis. And in this case, to an easily avoidable, yet very real catastrophic crisis.

The factional grifters will hate this, but the Mamdani-Spanberger-Sherrill axis actually suggests the outlines of a broad, emerging Dem coalition organized around both anti-Trump *and* affordability politics, not a party bitterly divided against itself.
These big wins will embolden Dems to take on Trump's lawbreaking and show there's a price for GOP enabling of him. Folks hate to hear this, but normal patterns are asserting themselves: Liberalism isn't dead, Rs are likely to lose in 2026, and Trump is really unpopular, not a magical exception.

Sadly, the day has come to remove them from my presets. R.I.P. 102.1, we hardly knew ye.

My loyalty to 91.7, 90.7, 89.7, and 88.9 FM remains strong.
Radio station 102.1 in Milwaukee was my favorite alternative rock station (I’m old but I love new music!)

Today they switched to Christian music 😳

I’m bummed and that station is now dead to me.

So good to see @neinquarterly.bsky.social on Bsky. And by "good," I mean true to form, he's been idle lately. There is little satisfaction to be garnered from his presence. It's a nihilist thing you may understand.

Imagine being 17, your little brother by your side, begging to speak to your dad as he’s dragged away. You may never see him again. And this is every day. Soul shattering, nightmarish stuff, never to be forgiven.
A Naperville man was hauled away by federal immigration agents Thursday morning as his two sons watched, the older boy begging them not to hurt his father and tearfully asking for a chance to speak to him before they left.

This stuff looks pretty darn good.
Milwaukee County Transit just launched a bunch of cool new stuff on their online store. With that much swag, I might just patch their budget woes with my credit card.

Great news from the Northwest! Salmon have returned to the river they couldn't access for a full century due to dams. Knock wood, or water, this may prevent their extinction. www.underscore.news/land/klamath...
