“Be like Larry!”
Alas, the Ads didn’t seem to have it working until the third. While they almost equalized shots, their one goal wasn’t enough.

I wasn’t in town when this aired, but I totally remember the big dealership and their ads in the mid-1980s.

I said to myself the other day, while looking at empty old news stands in a supermarket, “I remember ‘newspapers.’” Wrote for and ran a few myself. 😬

Frankly, this makes sense.

The Great Depression occurred during his tenure. Though Hoan was a very capable leader, and once a hero of mine, the Depression hit the city with great force. It was not pleasant here then. Also, redlining was deeply entrenched by then. I don’t know if Hoan, et al, did anything about it. Do you?

Agreed, I regularly see it here in the States. I wondered if it was just a Milwaukee thing. Your observation indicates otherwise.

You're right on all counts, yup! And enjoy the Yemeni coffee. :)

Sadly, the new owners are out-of-state venture capitalists. That said, we have many great local options , including Valentine Coffee (many locations), Vendetta Coffee (on KK), La Finca (St. Francis), and several Yemeni cafes across town.

Heck yeah! Milwaukee (and Madison) have great restaurants. I know less about Green Bay. We have great South and SE Asian restaurants, German, Ethiopian, and a few transcendent pizza places. A bar here in Bay View, MKE, has clever ways to serve fresh sausages. A vegetarian Indian shop is not faraway.

The good news: the Dems have a stellar legal team quietly working behind the scenes, and occasionally up front, making sure the stuff we fret about on here (and more) don’t happen. And, what you said. Yes!

I speak/read a tiny bit of Russian. So I can't help but read that headline as "the yaéd apple." 🤦🏻

Almost makes me want to get back into governance.

It won't last. ;-> But, it is a much-needed relief from feeling like jack booted thugs were going to roll over everything in sight. They likely will try. Things are about to get a lot more ~interesting.~ Still: we have hope!
