No, we can’t just agree to disagree on our opinions and live peacefully together when one person’s opinion is that the other can’t live in peace. Everyone already knows this, yet people pretend otherwise when it inconveniences them

Superb & eviscerating take on the situation at CBS by John Oliver and @lastweektonight.com. As I’ve noted, the new billionaire owners create a mirrortocracy, pretend it’s a meritocracy & hire a mediocrity to get there. But it is not about innovating & supporting journalism.

Can Sarah Vance be formally censured by her legislative colleagues for her harassment of a reporter, for lying repeatedly about established facts, or for threatening a boycott of the paper!? #akleg

If so would citizens’ letters supporting her censure be helpful? I want her to pay for her actions.

Dammitall! I wish the press would stop using the Kirk subject unknowns as a place holder. How can educated journalism buy into so many “mightas” and “maybes”.

the people comparing matthew dowd and brian kilmeade are missing the asymmetry. dowd worked for a network that tries to placate the other side. kilmeade works for one that wants everyone on the other side to drop dead.

Good work Mr. Reamer!
One of Alaska's greatest shames is the lack of public safety for women, now or historically. My latest article runs through some of that history, from jokes about women defending themselves to hatpins but centered on 1923 murder of two Juneau sex workers.
The 1923 murder of 2 Juneau sex workers and the shame of women’s public safety in Alaska
The state is one of the most dangerous for women, and based on anecdotal evidence, that trend has been true for more than a century.

Russia? Has he somehow annexed Alaska to Russia? Or is he actually going to Russia now?

This bug was about 4” long. I photographed in South Africa on the eastern side above Capetown. It was not AI but I have no idea who this insect is.

I remember it on the radio back in the 50s before every household was drugged by television. Garner Ted Armstrong and his “Plain Truth” about the world tomorrow. These hate peddlers were cranking out the chamber of dissonance everywhere.
I don’t think people are ready to reckon with how messed up charismatic Christian theology truly is. It was paranoid, conspiratorial and violent back in the 90s and has only gotten worse. I am not surprised it has led to terrorist attacks here in the US and unfortunately I believe we will see more.

Actually seems accurate to me and when I stop to think about the pov of the NYT it makes me chuckle, except it is a serious problem we are all stuck with.
This is mostly because the median Democratic politician insists on constructing a made-up median American voter in their head, who they base on some combination of Archie Bunker and William Buckley.
The evidence is mounting that the median liberal American has a wildly different understanding of where we are as a country than the median Democratic politician, and that those two understandings are simply incompatible with each other.

The only possible motive for this is racial hatred and white supremacy. It spits in the face of the Civil Rights Act and decades of progress in our country.
