Attempting resuscitation of long dormant drawing interest. Bought pencils and a sketchbook. Ehhh. My mistake: telling a results-oriented friend. He sent me a book & a new pencil set, and sat with me as I did the drawing exercise he selected for me. Slightly annoyed to report it worked. It was fun.

One year and seven months after adopting her at 7.5 years, Panda requested to come up on the couch, snuggle in, and allow me to offer comfort from the wild thunder and lightning storm. We were stunned and honored.

There is pleasure in returning to a familiar place, filled with familiar things— too many things, really, but still. I’m wallowing in its comfort.

Well, crap. The Ugly Bill passed. I expected the Rs would be craven to the last, but I apparently hoped against all reason. It is crushing, this despair.

Horrible things are happening, the wheels are coming off, everything is on fire, and I’m immobilized, staring at a photo on my phone, muttering, “Why? Why so orange?” It’s part of the distraction conspiracy, I’m certain.

This is a big deal. Spread the word. But it’s tiny compared to the totality of what’s happening at NIH. Cure Research for all cancers, Alzheimer’s, everything is being gutted. Intentionally. It’s all getting burned to the ground but the news isn’t getting out. The new cures won’t be there for you.
I would be making a big deal out of this if I were an elected Democrat

Been thinking about this a lot (not tagging the sender, for their privacy). Most of us won't have the chance for for grand, capital-R Resistance heroics. But every one of us will have a thousand small choices to make about how to live our lives and where to draw lines. Use them well.
