One year and seven months after adopting her at 7.5 years, Panda requested to come up on the couch, snuggle in, and allow me to offer comfort from the wild thunder and lightning storm. We were stunned and honored.

Much needed rains tonight came with strobe lightning and rumbling percussion. PandaBear tried the closet but found wriggling under the bed a safer refuge. Sad little Bear will accept no comforting.

When our rescue Panda sleeps, at night she softly burbles and moans— for hours. I assume it’s dream-talking, and it’s not just intense enough for me to wake and comfort her, but I’d sure like to know what’s going on in that dreamscape.

Intentionally, a favorite mug is there with our ballots for our freedoms & democracy. It says,“Go ahead, underestimate me, that’ll be fun.” It took me into my twenties to learn how to use that underestimation based on gender, looks, manner, age(both when young and now, older) to stealth advantage.
