I have two books by an author, Keh-Gong Shih, pub in 1996 that are just brilliant! But they are definitely lost. The first is PIctorial Mathematics: Patterns. It is fabulous! full of images like this. He created his own software called Mathgraf which is used to generate the images. #mathart #mtbos

I met with my knot theory independent study students today. The topic: braids. I broke out these "BraidTiles" that I made several years ago. You can download a printable pdf here (recommendation: print them on cardstock): divisbyzero.com/2019/05/01/b...

The new surface-colouring option in @desmos.com 3D allows a cute way of visualizing conic sections.

(The option to have translucent surfaces doesn't save with the graph itself, so needs to be re-toggled on. It's important for seeing the full curves)

It’s amazing to me that we still have people cherry picking what they think qualifies as research-based best practice and castigating @nctm.org based on those biases. Seems a good time to remind everyone that NCTM runs the top tier research journal in the field. #iteachmath
