one of the great under covered stories of the Trump 2 Administration is that Trump and the Catholic Church are as openly at war with each other as I've seen the Church be over and issue that wasn't abortion in my lifetime, its reached abortion levels
New York's new archbishop: “The Catholic Church isn’t a country club. A club exists to serve its members. The Church exists to go out and serve all people. We exist to follow Jesus who fed the hungry, healed the sick, rejected hatred, and proclaimed love.”

so crazy to me that a woman asked trump if he has any words for epstein's victims and he said "you as a young woman should smile more." it will go nowhere bc republicans refuse to hold trump accountable, but it's still pretty crazy.

I am horrified and disgusted by the lack out outrage on the part of the corporate media to the arrest of two Black independent journalists on Friday for doing journalism, Don Lemon and Georgia Fort. Where are the editorials? I'm mulling. In the meantime pls read:

Today I expressed my deepest concern and sympathy for a coworker I just met who is in MNPLS. He was sincerely touched and shocked that someone in AZ knew so much and cared so much about what's happening there. That makes it even more sad. They may not be aware that we're even paying attention.

What's happening in Minneapolis can and may happen everywhere. Nonprofit leaders and foundations, it's time to rise up. Don't let this be just a local issue—your voice and support can make a difference. Together, we can push back.

One of the takeaways of my current book is that the ability of the federal government to exert real power in domestic settings has always been largely overblown.
They don’t have the juice or manpower for it. This is not late 1930s Germany. There is no state monopoly on media. They are wildly unpopular.
The goal here is martial law. It’s martial law. Let’s be clear about that.

Here’s how to “make sense” of all this: The right is composed of evil people doing evil things who do not give a single fuck about this country, your state or your family. All they want is power and the power to crush anyone who isn’t a white man that believes in society oriented around white men.

Bit more than that, imo. Goldman is a prized asset on the Hill in opposition to both Johnson's weak majority and Trumpism, and in line for leadership. More than pro forma.
NEW: House Democrats' top three leaders, Hakeem Jeffries, Katherine Clark and Pete Aguilar, endorse Rep. Dan Goldman in his primary battle against former NYC comptroller Brad Lander.

This is in keeping w/ Jeffries' policy to support his incumbents.

So the hope (plan?) is "Trump's chavista" Delcy Rodríguez will knuckle under to US control, the oil will flow, drug trade will stop, and VZ society will stabilize so that refugees return? All without further military action? This seems like a poor decision all around.

Seems to me Dems generally have the right response:

- Question the legality (illegal)
- Question actual plans for Venezuela (none past the next Big Mac)
- Question the rationale (oil, polls, whim/penis)
- Warn of a quagmire (likely)
- Hammer Maduro (criminal)
