xkcd is a popular web comic consisting of little more than stick figures and math. Art

Kingdom of Loathing is a stick figure browser game. Art

“Two stick figures fight” was an entire *genre* of Flash animation. Art

“It looks bad” is no impediment to art.

PS: art isn’t about securing the bag.
I had to unfollow the woman who posted “anti-AI is elitist.”

Pencils are cheap. Pens are cheap. Even drawing apps are getting cheaper.

There are free art courses on YouTube. When I wanted to try to draw comics as a kid I could get books from the library. No excuses.

I’ve been dealing with corporate life for longer than I care to admit. Got swept up in the massive layoffs in 2000, 2008, and 2020. It’s always arbitrary, because the demand from above to every manager is “cut your team’s total salary by X by the end of the week; no excuses”.
I was at Salesforce for the big 8k layoff in the beginning of 2023, and it was chaos. They wound up having to beg a bunch of folks to come back since nobody who was assembling the list realized they were load-bearing.

Fullest possible disrespect from me. Substack’s reputation as a Nazi bar predates Elon Musk’s purchase of Twitter, another site I won’t forgive people for continuing to use in 2026.
no disrespect, but I'm not subscribing to your Substack for reasons that should be obvious if you google words like "substack" and "nazis"

So, we all agree that Wonder Man is about what it’s like to be forced into the closet, yes?

The MCU is institutionally incapable of subtlety, so the whole show is practically screaming “this was queer life working under the Hays Code!” We all can see this, right?

the thing about "signing up to pay for college" is they give you the same guns and send you to the same places as the guys who signed up to legally murder brown people in foreign nations and get away with it. "paying for college" is not an excuse anyone should be respecting

meh unless his next project is an apologetic ballad titled "Oh shit they took my spine; it's cool to be impolite about an inhuman piece of shit I shouldn't have chucked you under that bus; I'm sorry buddy I should never have put being Bowser again over our friendship"
Maybe that can be workshopped

The place I worked at in the late 90s hired over 100 people/year just to keep up with the contract work it was getting from other companies worried about Y2K. Money flowed like water in those days.

Anyway, the dot-com bubble officially burst in March of 2000, and I don’t think that’s a coincidence.
to young people: you may at some point have heard about the Y2K problem. some people may have told you it wasn't a big deal

i need you to understand the only reason it wasn't a big deal was that everyone spent loads of time fixing code before it could become a problem, which is why it never did

I keep thinking about how Tim Cook said Apple’s VR headset was the company’s next iPhone. Like, he really thought he’d finally be stepping out of Steve Jobs’s shadow with that one.

There are people in the world who say that there are only two genders: male and female.
But the heart and soul have much more personality.
It's very sad that people who can't accept this sometimes utter very harsh words.

can't wait to try to scan an ICE agent's QR code after he executes someone in the street only to get executed in the street myself with the justification that he thought i was going for my gun
Everyone can relax. Democrats have a solution to all this...

Rep. Ritchie Torres is introducing a bill that would require ICE agents to wear scannable QR codes linking to webpages with their names.

Hey guess what kids! This is a result of the system operating exactly as designed! The whole thing has always been building to this and this is the shit America has been doing to indigenous people, black people and everyone outside their borders since 1776!

1. World population is still increasing.

2. A Thanos-style halving of the world’s population would put us where we were ~50 years ago; a gradual slowing poses no threat at all.

3. Concerns over birth rates are just coded white replacement theory, i.e., white supremacist bullshit.
Baier: What's the biggest thing that keeps you up at night?

Musk: The birth rate is very low in almost every country. And unless that changes, civilization will disappear. America had the lowest birth rate

I know people are comparing the Parker Molloy thing to Gamergate because that’s the cultural touchstone, but I think the closer analogue is Elevatorgate, because it, too, started with a woman saying something completely normal, which then exploded for no reason.

Some guy's misogynist remark made the news, and a Twitter account 100x my size said he was "dumber than a stripper", which isn't memorable on its own.

I remember it because I called her out for their swerf bullshit, and she quote-tweeted me and incited a dogpile against me.
What's an insult you'll never forget?
