If I were running the DNC, there would be Democratic Party sponsored food relief banks across the country right now that specifically welcomed anyone regardless of party affiliation.

Along with the food, there could be voter registration and links to runforsomething.net

My before midnight donation is to the Haiti Emergency Relief Fund. Tomorrow is Haiti’s birthday, and they are still struggling to fulfill the dreams of the Black Jacobins. Consider joining me in making a donation, no matter how small.

For everyone saying political violence has no place in this country…

Remember two Democratic legislators were shot in Minnesota just this year.

And America shrugged and moved on.

1. Concentration camps are bad. 2. Emergency Managers shouldn't be involved in building and operating concentration camps. 3. Emergency management agencies should not be used for political stunts. 4. Don't follow orders from white nationalists.

The National Weather Service has confirmed the severe storm that struck Beltrami County in late June was a so-called microburst. According to a summary survey conducted by the agency, the "microburst" created a 10-mile swath of destructive straight-line winds reaching speeds as high as 120 mph.
Recovery efforts continue in Beltrami County
In the aftermath of last month’s destructive storm, Beltrami County’s landfill space has been operating at capacity.

I know a lot of people just don't really know much about foreign cities, but please imagine how it would go if someone told all of NYC to evacuate "immediately," and then add two million more people to that scenario

As a fire scientist, my first reaction to these maps is that these places are gonna burn.

Any time you open up public lands to private or communal ownership that does not center fire stewardship of the land, ignitions and fire events increase dramatically.

Just a reminder that we STILL don't know if NOAA's National Tsunami Hazard Mitigation Program has funding for FY25... the grant year starting in September. This grant funds EVERY state- and territory-level tsunami program in the nation.
ICYMI: I wrote about the likely demise of the federal government's climate website (and how it's demise could be better than other end states) and why I am even more worried about the rest of NOAA beyond just NWS.

I’ve activated the State Emergency Operations Center.

Local law enforcement in Champlin and Brooklyn Park have the full resources of the State of Minnesota behind them.

We are monitoring the situation closely and will share more information soon.

I said it would get worse very quickly. By tomorrow we will have completed the most dangerous & frightening 24 hours thus far of Trump 2.0. Just to name a few:
1. Defiance of a court order by sending migrants to Sudan without due process (despite clear DP decision SCOTUS) & Dist. CT. order.

Angus King (ME)
Amy Klobuchar (MN)
Jacky Rosen (NV)
Brian Schatz (HI)
Maggie Hassan (NH)
Jeanne Shaheen (NH)
Gary Peters (MI)

Capitol switchboard is 202-224-3121.
This is NEW today. AOC sent this 11 am. Friday morning.

Yes, your calls are still needed. The vote is in the early afternoon. There is still time!
KEEP CALLING. PEEL OFF ALL DEM SENATORS YOU CAN.

☎️: (202) 224-3121

Tell them to vote NO on Cloture and NO on CR. Vote is pushed to after 1:15ish for now. Situation is fluid.

The only public YES votes are Schumer and Fetterman. They need 7-8 total. KEEP CALLING.

In the last three weeks our national risk of just about everything has been vaulted into the stratosphere. Every mitigative force, every protective measure is being dismantled.

Plane crashes?

Y’all haven’t seen nothing yet.
I mean it’s just the agency tasked with nuclear security, how bad can it be?
DOE's general counsel and IT offices told DOE Sec. Chris Wright that giving DOGE rep Luke Farritor IT access was a "bad idea" bc he hadn’t had a standard background investigation needed to access the department’s system, per a source. Wright granted him access anyways. www.cnn.com/2025/02/06/c...
