it still shocks me how utterly out of his league he looks when next to someone who acts like he's running a world power. I think I'm mostly numb to the endless stupidity but moments like this throw it in stark relief.

Lutnick: "It's time to train people not to do the jobs of the past, but to do the great jobs of the future. This is the new model where you work in these kinds of plants for the rest of your life and your kids work here and your grandkids work here. We let the auto plants go overseas."

Thrilled to be back in the print edition of @newyorker.com with an essay adapted from my forthcoming book about capitalism and its critics. The focus is the Luddite protests by artisan workers who were being displaced by new technology in early 19th century England, and the parallels with A.I. 1/3

Either the U.S. government *is* able to exert monetary and diplomatic pressure on El Salvador sufficient to produce Abrego Garcia’s release, or it isn’t.

The latter would be either a bald-faced lie or a pretty stunning concession of our national impotence. The Vice President should pick one.

Harvard has set an example for other higher-ed institutions - rejecting an unlawful and ham-handed attempt to stifle academic freedom, while taking steps to make sure students can benefit from an environment of intellectual inquiry, rigorous debate and mutual respect. Let’s hope others follow suit.

Bone chilling.

A court ordered Kilmar Abrego Garcia to stay in the United States.

The Supreme Court ruled 9-0 that he was illegally removed. Trump is pretending he won the ruling 9-0.

1/ You may not think this case means anything to you. But let me tell you why it does.

Everyone should see this video.

The President of the United States is laughing in the Oval Office about making his already rich friends even richer - at the expense of everyday American people.
After rolling back many of his tariffs Trump had Charles Schwab and others in the Oval Office.

He pointed out that his guests had made fortunes on the stock market just one hour after his announcement.

“He made 2.5 billion today and he made $900 million. That’s not bad.”

Update: The House just passed the Republican voter suppression measure that threatens voting access for millions of Americans, including 69 million women whose married names don't match their birth certificates.

Make sure your senators know you expect them to stand against it.
Are you a woman who changed your name when you got married?

Congress is considering a bill that could make it much harder for you to vote.

Call your rep—this is not a drill. indivisible.org/resource/cal...
