The grifting conspiracy theories & lies about the devastating LA fires are cynically preying on people who are in deep pain. Thank you @gavinnewsom.bsky.social for this website debunking the lies.

Please remember that LA is a blue collar town. Sure there are celebrities and producers and wealthy people, but many of the people are very hardworking folks, mostly working paycheck to paycheck. If you talk shit, I shit you not, karma will fucking find you.

“Private firefighter force” what fresh hell? Imagine having so much money you have your own firefighting forces

Something bugging me is this idea fanned by media that LA and CA were “unprepared” to contain these fires, in particular the Palisades Fire. It was a fire hurricane. Welcome to what climate scientists, activists, and regular folks who understand what they’re reading/seeing have warned for decades.

Instagram is just slide after slide after slide of GoFundMes to raise $$ to rebuild peoples’ entire lives. Much like with healthcare crises: you shouldn’t need to have a social media following to be able to recover from disaster.

we're out here paypaling and GFMing the last $25 we have back and forth to infinity while slogging through a labyrinth of ridiculous injustice, and they are freaking out because someone suggested they should have more money than they could spend in 2999 lifetimes instead of 3005 lifetimes.

Some days it just hits me how every one of us--every single person reading this--is braver, tougher, and more generous than any of the billionaires who fancy themselves our superiors, and how ridiculous it is that this handful of cry babies with the luxury of doing ANYTHING THEY WANT choose... this.

In 1977, Vincent Price starred in a one-man-show where he played openly gay Oscar Wilde; it was condemned by Anita Bryant. When asked about her condemnation, Price replied that Wilde had already written a play about Anita: “A Woman of No Importance”

For SoCal friends,

Here is a list of resources for shelter, animal boarding, free items, and distribution hubs. These places can also use donations (e.g., food, water, masks, and blankets). Please consider donating if you can.

When a liberal area suffers a climate change disaster, Republicans say “God is punishing them.”

When a conservative area suffers a climate change disaster, Republicans say “Democrats control weather machines.”

Must be hard going through life as a full-blown idiot.

Fox News is a disgrace & I hope every anchor/reporter trying to push the narrative that enough isn’t being done (or letting people say things aren’t being done & they’ve been abandoned) about the fires is ashamed of themselves

I've seen multiple people asking for ways to turn off reposts from people they follow (which you can in Settings>Following Feed Preferences) but I'm confused to why people don't like reposts. Is that not why we're here? To share things we see & enjoy? Am I missing something?
