Does anyone know of any articles focussed on the issue of public access to museum collections databases and AI? I’ve got some concerns as we work towards launching a public portal. OR if you work at a museum and some of your collection is available online, what are you doing about it? #museums

🚨 We have heard that the County Archaeologist for Hampshire is being made redundant, with no plans to replace him. 🚨
If you live in Hampshire please write to your MP and Councillors.
If you live elsewhere treasure and support your County Archaeologists, and stand by to protect them. 🏺

Yet another crucial point: the vast majority of the world’s historical archives have not been digitized and are thus totally invisible to LLMs/AI.

bsky.app/profile/jcte...
it's literally impossible for an LLM to do a historian's job

it's not even LLMs sucking it's that they need data input to do anything and where's that data supposed to be coming from without historians

never met a computer that can dig through a thousand year old book in a library

Like most of the country, I'm struggling with the news of the shootings in Tumbler Ridge, BC. 9 people are dead. One of the victims was from NL, so the community here is reeling too, while NL's premier opts out of the gun buyback program. Get rid of them, we do not need these things in our homes.

The media should be PRAISING these athletes who know and understand the importance of public health. These articles should be about how they are setting an example for EVERYONE. And how we should all take their lead.

Instead their positioning is: “look at these fucking weirdos”
