If you just arrived here and are following me, hi! I have a couple lists in my profile you might be interested in. You might even be on one, if you are just getting back into an old account. If you want to be taken off, just let me know.
Otherwise, there’s a cheese tray and crudite in the back….

Heard this today on the easy listening/Great American Songbook station in my elderly parents' car. Know nothing about this guy other than that he's a bassist and the album is from the 1980s.

It's kind of awesome, lyrically?

those of us laid off from Teen Vogue were really fortunate to complete our fundraising goal — the laid-off staffers at VIBE deserve the same support, as Black media outlets and journalists continue to be targeted and discriminated against in “austerity” measures
It was announced on October 16, 2025 that VIBE was "joining forces" with Rolling Stone. As a result, the majority of VIBE employees were laid off. If you have the means to give, this team could use the support! www.gofundme.com/f/support-vi...

7) Michael Moorcock deserves a statue.

Dude is still alive and writing. Whichever town he's adopted should build a black sword about thirty feet high engraved with runes that casts a shadow like an enormous sundial counting down to the end of days.

73) Representation in Sword & Sorcery should be more than token.

Charles R. Saunders famously wrote in his essay about racism in fantasy that people didn't want Black hobbits - they did not want token representation, but for representation that worked within the context of the setting & story.

It just wasn't a big, newsworthy deal like, for instance, the college applications of a mayoral candidate to a school he didn't get into or attend.
To recap: Jeffrey Epstein offered a NY Times reporter photos taken in Epstein's kitchen of Donald Trump and girls in bikinis *and* implored the NYT reporter to put this information in the public discourse in 2015

What did the NY Times editors know about this offer?

I think people forget that papers used to run ads, and you'd flip past them, but where they showed things you'd buy, you enjoyed looking at them. Ads online load in aggressive, intrusive, manipulative ways, and hijack what you're reading. There's so much room for improvement.

Other folks have said it, but let me just note that:

(1) lots of talented, must-read journalists have been let go from their jobs over the last year

(2) millions of Americans are abandoning current media outlets and looking for new alternatives

Seems like a sure-fire business opportunity here?

I am calling upon the people of Ireland to immediately begin construction of a thread on this site about how you or someone you know was roasted for a fashion choice. We need it.

All roasts must have come from Irish people *only*. Please respect this important rule, it makes a difference.

This is a very good read about what #NewCollegeOfFlorida was really like, and what forces were and are arrayed against it.

And why it matters. Ecstatic wonder.

I work for a travel magazine and get a lot of press releases. Most are about destinations, cruise ships, and restaurants — things like that. This one just came in.

It’s about New York City’s new mayor?

Somebody’s spending a lot on this publicity push….

A rare interview with the creators of the always-funny, always-brilliant, and *usually*-sexy—or occasionally anti-sexy—OGLAF!

Cooper has kept a low profile over the years, but is legitimately one of the very best artists in comics today. Read OGLAF if you're old enough to drive!
Talking Oglaf with Trudy Cooper and Doug Bayne: 'We'd stay up all night drawing stuff to make each other laugh' - The Comics Journal
Other than some time off every year for Christmas, Trudy Cooper and Doug Bayne have delivered a new Oglaf comic, skewering fantasy tropes with absolutely not safe for work humor, every week since 2008...
