A friend with Project HOME in Maine is asking for urgent help.

With ICE descending on neighborhoods, people are afraid to go to work—cutting off income and putting families at immediate risk of eviction.

This is a solidarity fund: 100% of donations go straight to rent.

People seem very confused about what "pulling my books" from Amazon means. I mean they are no longer *purchaseable* on Amazon, not that they have been moved from KDP to a different distributor (they were never on KDP).

The goal is for readers to *buy them somewhere else*.
In solidarity with the boycotts, my indie books have officially been pulled from Amazon. If you have *also* pulled your books from Amazon for whatever reason, let me know. I'm putting together some more discovery for people whose books no longer benefit from or support Amazon.

Publishers have been milking public libraries for all they can, while painting them as thieves--meanwhile, amazon screwing publishers (and of course, small presses and indie authors) over for all they're worth, yet publishers just go along with Bezos.

Fucking baffling.
Your Libby rental was free for you, but did you know it cost the D.C. Public Library $59.99?

The e-book boom (and a complicated pricing model from publishers) has left library systems strapped for cash. But D.C. lawmakers have a plan to fight back. 51st.news/ebooks-are-e...
Libraries can't afford e-books. D.C. lawmakers have a plan.
The demand and price for e-books is up — and it’s busting the D.C. Public Library budget.

I live an hour north of Minneapolis and they’re here too. They’re rounding up workers in chicken processing plants and breweries.
A reminder that ICE hasn’t slowed down in Minneapolis at all.

Outside of Minnesota, it might feel like everything has changed since Alex Pretti’s murder. But ICE hasn’t actually lost any power and they’re continuing to terrorize our communities.

What's so funny to me is that white people will listen to ANY KIND OF WHITE PERSON before they listen to a Black person with the same exact political leanings. Racist, misogynistic, xenophobic, transphobic, it DO NOT MATTER. 😭😭😭😭

Never fails.

This is dystopian… and not just because they’re dressed like a scene from the handmaids tale.

These are mostly children.

This is where Liam Ramos is being held.

They’re screaming “let us out” and protesting the brutal conditions.

These kids are braver than every ICE thug holding them hostages

Radley, if you don’t know, was a canary in the coal mine at WaPo Opinions, writing deeply reported pieces about police violence, which were utterly ignored by Opinions editors, who seemed hellbent on them NOT being seen during the peak of national interest. Then laid off for vague traffic reasons.
We're witnessing the most aggressive, fanatical crackdown on free speech in my lifetime. The speed and breadth of government censorship and private sector and nonprofit capitulation has been astonishing. As has the lack of urgency/silence from people who've long claimed to care about this stuff.

is the cure for male loneliness showing up early and setting up chairs?
A lot of the Male Loneliness Epidemic can be traced back to the fact that most cis dudes don’t participate in communal logistics.
I think @sarahjeong.bsky.social said it's because they devalue women's labor and a LOT of this Scary Logistics stuff comes from people who don't understand that basically all of the civic life they enjoy is created with the help of free labor, largely by women.

Still don’t FW target, and probably never will again.
Target in Minneapolis has pulled Hispanic employees off of pick-up order duty after ICE arrested two US citizen Hispanic employees while on the job.

This is from the NYT masthead editorial about the murders of Renee Good and Alex Pretti. The highlighted line invalidates not just the editorial, but the very idea of newspaper editorials crafted by the consensus of a board. Better to publish nothing at all than to publish a line like this.

Lt. Illinois Gov. Juliana Stratton just addressed the crowd, and called for ICE to be abolished.
