Something I think is worth commenting on is the shift away from the old school genteel traditionalist image of masculinity--they said they cared about sexual propriety, that they opposed harassment and rape, and so forth, and it was assumed that this was part of their ethics. Until Trump came along.

One thing it's taken people way too long to learn after the harassment campaigns of the 2010s is that someone can be the target of a horrific and undeserved torrent of abuse and also still be pretty annoying or even a pretty shitty person
