You know what helps a place be vibrant and growing beyond the strictures of neoliberal growth maximization? Diversity and density.

A type of practice that I find interesting historically is the rigorously untrue. Astrology, for instance, was often a very tightly defined practice with a seriously requirement of learning: it just wasn’t actually real.

What almost killed me today:

1) old dude jumped off the sidewalk directly into the bike lane to look inside a legally parked car

2) old dude who opened his car door without looking but it was the pickup truck that almost took me and the car door out that was the real problem

Since I started programming in the 1980s - the industry has been trying to invent way so that average people could “write code” (remember hypercard?)

LLM based agents have finally delivered on that promise.
After reading this I gave exe.dev a shot and the combination of cheap VMs, the HTTPS proxy with passkey auth and link sharing, and the built-in LLM agent is... incredible.

Like, I know how to use each of these things individually, but combining them feels like when I first learned to script things.
Just in time software
I didn’t plan to write software in the grocery store last night. I was tired and hungry, kids in tow. My long shopping list sat in a text message. I wished I could check items off as I found them.…

Living in San Diego is the only time I’ve ever seen a car driven by a human being flip over and land on the roof and slide a hundred feet on the highway after an inch of rain has fallen.

Waymo is safer. Period.
