Password managers should support subdomain and other pattern matching day 1. It's vexing that @proton.me Pass doesn't. I literally can't use it because of this basic lack of functionality.

Today would have been Dr. John's 84th birthday, which was originally observed a day later and a year earlier - as wonderfully mysterious and chaotic as everything about him.

I asked chatgpt to update a golang script to add a simple change to one of the functions and it preceded to rewrite the entire thing in python.

So that's how my day is going.

cloudflare's on-duty IT staff bangs on the doors which I have padlocked from the inside as I calmly break open lava lamp after lava lamp and drink the contents

This has literally never been the case.

And companies like cloudflare exist due to fragile nature of the internet and the challenges of hosting anything on it.
Remember when the internet was designed so that it could pretty much route around most single points of failure and keep working?

Yeah. Good times.

Just taking a moment to appreciate these wonderful pictures of Tom Baker with @louisejameson.bsky.social & friends at his MBE investiture this week. How does he get *more* like the Doctor the older he gets? #TomBaker MBE - it's about time.🧣🏅

I think my favorite thing about when it rains here in SoCal is our dog taking one step through the dog door, looking around at all the water, and then immediately coming back inside with her ears down as if I’ve personally betrayed her.

Apperently asking why all the elderly white heterosexuals on nextdoor keeps calling out our queer person of color mayor as corrupt is enough you get you banned. Who knew?

On a daily basis I switch between Mac, Windows, and Linux (and occasionally FreeBSD) and I don’t feel the need to bitch about it. Which I’ve been doing for 30 fucking years. Only OS/2 has been removed from my life.
Every time I have to use a Mac I die a little inside because I feel like an old person who doesn't know how a computer works. This is like the 5th time in 20 years and I hate it.

Instructors thinking that everyone learns the same way is why many of us end up doing poorly and eventually drop out. Which is exactly what I did.
Two things: (1) students who take transcripts don't usually wind up *thinking* during class; they're trying to get every word down. If they actually listen carefully, then can jot down a phrase or two, and that will be enough to remind them of more of what was being said. And ...
