An immigration enforcement service is necessary, and there will always be support for it. Support for how it's currently conducted is bleeding fast. It is not the same as abolition. You effectively and politically accomplish abolition by starving the current service. Then you start again.

After ICE agents shot people in Minneapolis tonight, a crowd faced them down and eventually chased them away, despite federal mercenaries and police shooting a tremendous amount of tear gas.

A thought: part of what makes people shy away from naming 🧊 as slave patrols rather than Gestapo is that if white people and citizens are now being caught up, they are forced to acknowledge they are on the same level as Black people (who they were fine as seeing as beneath them, even subconsciously)

maybe an unpopular position on this website but i think the moderate dem focus on ICE training can be, with political pressure, the pathway to more fundamental reforms. rhetorically it is not too hard to move from “more training” to “turns out they’re untrainable and we have to start all over.”

The more I see the more confident I am in my analysis of this invasion
I didn't think Trump was some knight of peace, I trusted in Trump's laziness. Prosecuting a war means work. It means press conferences, difficult questions (even from cronies), early mornings and late nights. Trump has proven again and again he doesn't have the mettle for this.
