Pathetic and almost comical but how fucking disruptive, bizarre, & bad this is kind of kills the humor.

This man has Pearl Harbor’d Iran & Venezuela so far and has expressed an intent to do the same to Greenland, the potential consequences of which strain my vocabulary & imagination.

Minnesota Nice is rapidly turning into Minnesota Fuck Off and it is wonderful to watch.
This morning in Minneapolis, an ICE vehicle got stuck on an icy hill in a residential neighborhood. Agents had to push the vehicles out, some almost slipping in the ice themselves.

Is it a new method to prevent and limit wildfires? I bet it is!
The wine industry has lost billions of dollars due to wildfires, largely because smoke makes the drink taste like licking an ashtray. Now a team of scientists is chasing a solution. newyorkermag.visitlink.me/MCnGbI

If you wanted to know why uv is so much faster than pip for Python package and dependency management (hint: it's not solely because it's written in Rust). nesbitt.io/2025/12/26/h...
How uv got so fast
uv’s speed comes from engineering decisions, not just Rust. Static metadata, dropping legacy formats, and standards that didn’t exist five years ago.

a post about how, with LLMs, I wrote a new set of libraries.
Wrapping htslib is my hello-world but doing it in rust to allow javascript expressions handled by V8 was more substantial project.

The tools and LLMs are now getting quite good:

Watching Stranger Things and 2 characters are debating if 1 guy is a real life version of a D&D "wizard" or "sorcerer" based on whether or not his magic is innate.

Bitch - this is the 80s. The class is "magic-user". Magic was Vancian. There was no such thing as a "sorcerer".

I can still remember some of their names, all these years later
in your 20s, you'll come across someone who's wrong online. it's very important than you spend the next 40 years of your life learning and arguing about this topic online long after they've moved on, built a career, and raised a family.
